Nick in Philly

It’s amazing they are only 10 minutes from taking his team to the superbowl. Best Offensive Line great weapons around Hurts. The defense is really solid too. With what is considered to be by Eagles fans the worst Owner in the league in Lurie they had and continue to have a terrific season. It’s only Nicks second season it really shows how poorly we underestimated him.

Many forget….   Sirianni started poorly and slowly in Philly.   His intro news conference was considered terrible and I’m probably being generous.

Then the regular season started, and the Eagles I believe started 1-3 and 2-5.

There were plenty of stories that wondered if Sirianni would finish his first year as the HC?   But his team turned it around going I think 7-3 and they made the playoffs.   Then they won 13 games this regular season?   Or was it 14?

Suddenly, Sirianni is highly thought of.  Hey, I’m glad for him.  I’m just saying he started badly and almost didn’t get a chance to show what he can do.  Sometimes a little patience goes a long way.

The Eagles have been playing well but they had the second easiest schedule in the league, beat a so-so Giants team and a SF team that was down to its 4th string qb.
I hope KC wins for 3 reasons:

1. I love the way Mahomes plays

2. I hate the Eagles (the laundry, not the players).

3. I’m dying to see somebody try and lift Andy up on their shoulders.

WRs - 2 #1 WRs, one through a trade

OL - top 3 in the league at least

QB - evolution of Hurts as a passer has been amazing

DL - Hargrave, Suh, Joseph all great FA signings to add to an already deep outstanding DL

LBs - key FA signing with Haason Reddick that changed everything

CBs - key FA signings in Bradberry and C J Gardner Johnson in the slot who can possibly shut down Kelce to go with Darius Slay

They have talent at every level of offense and defense. If the Chiefs pull this off, it would be one heck of a coaching job that would have to be executed.

Its night and day, the Eagles talent vs Colts talent. To say Sirianni had help would be understating it.

Like watching Mahomes play, but still prefer Philly to win.  The Eagles are the more rounded team as far as talent goes.

I agree that the Eagles are the better team. Great players at almost every position.  I think they will win but I am not rooting for them.

The eagles have superior talent compared to the colts. Their FO went out and made great trades and free agent aquisitions. They showed how to build a super bowl roster unlike Ballard.

Hmm…yet they beat those inferior Colts by 1 point? A game in which (by the way), the Colts would have won if not for a missed face mask.

I’m not saying the Eagles don’t have a darn good team but consider their schedule and who they’ve played in the playoffs (Giants and 5th string QB 49ers) .

If they go out and beat KC by multiple scores, my hats off to them. Until then, I think they are a bit overrated, especially here in Philly.

Nick Sirianni landed a "dream job" in Philadelphia.

Great owner and GM.

A team that has improved it's roster during his time there.

Not a significant amount of injuries this year.

Best wishes to the Eagles - I predict they dominate the Super Bowl and hoist their second Lombardi.

    • The closer we are getting to the draft the more I see Turner being projected outside the top 10. Still, Latu is a gamble - he was medically retired after his sophomore season and told he would never play football again due to a neck injury, Transferred to UCLA and was eventually cleared. He just seems like the type of player who has the goods, but will fall in the draft due to health concerns.
    • There's a lot of analysis to be done here, IMO. I don't know all the answers, but some questions that should be addressed are what's the difference between the success rate of a first round pick and that of a second/third round pick, historically? How do you value that difference? I think I've seen stats that say first rounders are starters at a higher rate than other rounds, but is that influenced by the bias of the team that drafted the player in the first round? (Probably.) It's probably fair to say that the players taken in the first round are more likely to be difference makers than the players taken later, but I think there are position groups where the difference is negligible, and I think WR is one of them.   And then, if you get into a climate where everyone is selling in the first round, then the value probably flips at some point.    Also, I don't necessarily think of the draft as a crap shoot. Yes, it's arbitrary, but I think some front offices are good at drafting, and some are bad at drafting; but the difference isn't as wide as general perception would indicate. And there are lots of dependent variables -- coaching, health, etc. -- that influence the outcome of each pick.    I do think more picks is the way to go to maximize value. But to build the best roster? That's a different arm of the discussion. Like you said later on, we've been trading down, and we don't have a great roster.    You also make a good point about the rookie contract vs trading for an established player, and that's not to be ignored. But my point is that if you're going to base your appetite for risk on your level of conviction in the player, I'd rather take the big swing on the established player than on a draft prospect, despite the difference in contract status. The ideal mix is to target a second or third year WR so you can at least get some of the rookie contract. Ballard reportedly asked for Jaylen Waddle and Christian Watson last year.
    • I really don’t see that type of Defensive player in this draft. But there’s always surprises. But I agree, we’ve got to go offensive fire power this year. At least in the first.
    • If they want to beat the Texans they will
