2017 NFL Draft Day 2 Thread

Recommended Posts

The draft will resume at 7 EST with the packers on the clock. Colts will be picking at 46. I won't be on as much as yesterday, but I will chime in from time to time.

Go Colts!!!!!!

Actually I believe they pick at #46. Look for CB or Edge rusher. There will be some excellent options when they pick.

Thank you for the correction. I really want dalvin cook, but I wouldn't complain about CB or Edge

Not sure Cook will last

I'm just hoping. I can see kamara and mixon being taken before cook

There could be another run on Offensive skill players at the top of the round

Yeah definitely.  I just don't see Dalvin Cook lasting very long in the 2nd. I bet he's gone super quickly.

I posted this in another thread but, I'm hoping for Wilson/king or take a chance on Jones in the second and hope Williams continues to fall to the third.  Nothing like a player with a chip on his shoulder!! I wouldn't complain about Lamp or one of Kamari or Cook if they fall that far.

The way this draft has gone the Defensive players could drop not sure about the guys on O

Agreed I'm really torn because I want someone with these picks that can play now but Jones is tempting.  He's a top 10 talent whose young and will return to health.  You add him along with Hooker and you just stole two top 10 talents.

Not sure that CP and CB can afford a player that needs a redshirt year

Pags can't afford it but Ballard can.  He's brand new to the job.  He's not on the hot seat.  I'm going to be honest I don't care if pags can or can't afford it.  I don't think he's that great of a coach.

If he picks a bust and/or the team falters next year he could be labeled as a bad GM

Eh it took Grigson until his third draft for that to happen even though his second draft was terrible

Meh, while I admit I gave Grigs the benefit of the doubt for way too long, the more informed, and or more skeptical posters around here had Grigs sniffed out pretty early on...

    • I'd be surprised with the committment to the run if we spent much capital on a WR for the 3rd year in a row.  But if they think there is a stud out there, who knows.  Campbell I don't think is" injury prone" necessarily, last weeks hit was just unfortuneate and broken foot is also usually and accident rather than injury proneness whatever that means.  Assuming he's 100% next year, I think they'd be pretty comfortable with the playmaking potential of PC.     But Houston is old too and we probably are really going to need another edge guy.
    • How is Togiai fitting in with the team?

    • Unfortunately there hasn't been much meaningful college football so far so my watching has been limited too.    From limited watching this year and some from last year, here are the QBs: - Trevor Lawrence is looking like a complete beast early in the season... true, it's against bad competition, but even then you can see him making some awesome NFL type throws with accuracy, anticipation and great arm talent. I think he will be amazing in the league.  - Trey Lance - very intriguing dual-threat QB from North Dakota State. Had 28 passing TDs and 0INT last year in his redshirt freshman season and ran for over 1000 yards and 10+ more rushing TDs. He might not play this year because of COVID. Interesting to see how that affects his stock in the draft. -Justin Fields - another dual threat QB, who had great year last year. He's showing more than just athleticism too - he has the arm talent to win not just by running but also by passing the ball - there is some hype for Brock Purdy... I watched his first game this season... wasn't impressed. IMO he's not a 1st round QB based on what I saw, BUT it's possible it was just a weird game, so I will have to watch more to be sure. -Jamie Newman - he opted out of this season after transfering to Georgia... so... I will have to go back to last year's tape to watch him more intently.   OT: Penei Sewell - best OT coming into the draft last several years. Looks great. Prototypical size, lenght, athleticism...great technique. He has it all IMO. DL: Gregory Rousseau(DE), raw but very athletic edge rusher.... Marvin Wilson - interior lineman with some pass-rush upside, Kwity Paye - another EDGE with insane athleticism... there are some reports that he ran the 3 cone in 6.36... this is madness if true - it would rank 2nd all time in the drill... this is for all positions and he's an EDGE who's listed at 6'4" 272lbs.
    • Does Blake Bortles facts make a comeback?     Also my wife and I have just started binge watching this comedy called "The Good Place" and one of the characters is a really dumb Jags fan and he is always playing up Bortles as some great player.  It's hilarious.
