Just wanted to let everyone know I still feel healthy, just working a lot. Hozer and I miss doing play by play of Cubs games on here and commenting on the games. Everything will be back to normal soon

It is Jackie Robinson Day today. It is the 70th Anniversary of when Jackie Robinson integrated baseball. A month or so later, Larry Doby integrated the AL, playing for the Cleveland Indians.

The Mets are playing my brand of baseball this afternoon. They are getting good pitching, good defense, guys are getting on base, stealing bases, moving guys along, and getting runs across the plate. I love that brand of baseball. We had a HR too but that is least important haha.

Thor has pitched 6 innings so far -- only 88 pitches. He has given up no runs and just 1 hit. :scoregood:

Mets lead 6-0. Let's get the win, Mets.

The Mets win 6-1 over the Rockies who came in playing very well. The Mets take 2 out of 3. The best thing about this game is that the Mets played good fundamentally sound baseball for all 9 innings.

Good game to watch. Enjoy your baseball today, folks. :D

Cubs playing like the Mets did today. Love NL-style baseball.

So far so good. Cubs up 3-1, a sweep would be huge here. Brewers won today so it would be nice to keep pace and stay in 1st in the NL Central. Cards would be 6 games back if they lose.

Cubs win! Sweep of the Cards too much oops GIF by SkinnyPop. Fly the flag Hozer. Official standings heading into June 10th in the NL Central from the big 3 are:

Cubs 37-27 .578%

Brewers 38-28 .576%

Cards 31-32 (5.5 back)

Cubs/Cards exchanging sweeps this season, lol!

Thoughts and prayers go out to David Ortiz who was shot yesterday in his native Dominican Republic. It sounds like he sustained damage to some organs but may live. Hoping the best for Big Papi's recovery.

It’s a shame when a guy can’t go back home and enjoy life without some punks taking shots at him. Sad. Hope for a speedy recovery for him!

Right. He has done so much for his country. He is a legend there. I'm happy to hear that he is expected to make a full recovery.

Utter shock. That was no robbery, that was a hit, and they better get to the bottom of it. Thank god no amount of evil or hate can overcome a heart that big. You got this @davidortiz, we love you bro!

I just read he’s on a plane bound for Boston hospital, in critical condition but good enough to fly. Can’t imagine any other reason that someone would put a hit on him other then pure jealousy.

I read that too. I think he might already be in a Boston area hospital. I read that he is expected to make a full recovery. Let's hope for that. He seems like a good person.

Because some people are just that evil and jealous. The guy that shot him may have been offered a lot of money to do so as well. Some will do anything for money. Not saying that is the case here but who knows?

Other then the Heyward Homerun, Cubs bats going silent. And I hate Daniel Murphy again. Why is he always such a thorn in the Cubs side? Ugh.say word laughing GIF by Desus & Mero

Yeah here lately road wins have been hard to come by. At least the Brewers are losing big to the Astros 10-5 right now. We are a different team at home that is for sure.

Mets fans say the same. Since leaving the Mets, he has killed them. It seems like he is batting 1000 against the Mets. Lol.

Yeah we can flush this one down the toilet. 9-1 Rockies now. Just one of those nights.

Huh? I thought the score was 2-2 at some point. I must have seen a different score.

Per ESPN, the suspect in the Big Papi shooting was offered a measily $7800 dollars to do the hit. That is pathetic. Last I heard Big Papi was recovering well

The GDP per Capital was/is 7,053.26 US Dollars in 2017 and the GNI was 15,290 PPP so not to bad in the DR in other words about 35,000 in the US since the US GNI is 60,200

Cubs up 2-0 over the powerful Dodgers in the 1st inning. Kershaw shaky early. Hopefully Lester has his great stuff tonight.

Welp, it was a good start at least....until Lester crumbled.

    • I hate to bring up the name Grigson, because it triggers so many around here, but I cut RG slack when it came to draft picks because I always say its a collaborative effort between the GM and the HC.  In both regimes, Pagano and now Reich have influence into the picks.  HCs tend to get who they lobby for.  Maybe not in a specific round, or specific draft, but over the course of several years the GM got them the kind of players they wanted.   Yes, Ballard makes the pick, but I think the entire staff is responsible for the production.  I don't think that Ballard is forcing players on Reich.  I think they want to build a certain way and what we are seeing is the result of what they have done so far, together.  Not very imaginative because they don't have those kinds of players yet.  Some of the players they added for that purpose haven't worked out as planned so far.   So yes, Reich and Flus have to play the players that are here, and that has more to do with what we see on the field right now more so than any deficiencies in their coaching abilities.  JMO.  We're strong in the middle.  We're going to emphasize that right now.   And its kind of what I would expect to happen when your best player on offense is a Guard.
    • I was being sarcastic.    that said, this is a what have you done for me lately league and so far, I’ve not seen the TY of old since December 2018. I’d be fine with moving on, I really don’t think we’d suffer much if any loss
    • 1973 for me.  Before that I was a Viking fan.  In 1971 I had a family member who was going to LSU and was training as an Olympic weight lifter.  So I started watching the Tigers and really liked Bert Jones.  I was already a Baltimore Oriole fan because that was the name of my Little League baseball team earlier so I liked Brooks Robinson a lot. I played 2nd base so I also liked Davey Johnson.  I followed Bert Jones when he was drafted by the Colts and the rest is history.
    • Hilton is making plays , just unfortunate penalties have negated some of his best and some of the others resulted in P.I. calls which we gained yardage (Have said before wish NFL kept track of yards gained through P.I. drawn for players, they are just as good as catches in reality) . I'm not saying he is what he was just saying he doesnt seem to have fallen off a cliff either. As for Fountain, small school guy who has measurables (Nothing like Cain who helped lead Clemson to a national title vs the best NCAA competition and had even better measurables ), injury put him behind and doesnt look fully back while others have passed him like Johnson and even Harris.  Hope he gets a P.S. spot somewhere if not us and hope he eventually makes it as a team's 5th or 6th WR, that is likely his upside.
    • I sincerely apologize for disagreeing with your bad takes.
