Loved what Cris Carter had to say about Philbin.

 

It pretty much sums up my thoughts too. I am going to roll with Cris on this one.

I don't understand the hate for Pep.

I counted at least two play calls of 2nd and two and 3rd and two yards to get a first down and they throw

a 20 yard pass incomplete. Whether Hasselbeck checked into those calls it's still up to the coaching

staff to lead these guys into better decision making.

The QB is throwing the ball, not the OC. Luck has missed a lot of underneath opportunities. And then there have been obvious blitz situations and third downs where all receivers go vertical and no one comes across the middle of the field. It's not all Luck, and it's not all Pep. 

 

However, the lack of play action, the fact that our offense so far looks nothing like our playoff offense and preseason offense, the overly complicated blocking schemes, and the misuse of personnel all fall on Pep. That we're talking about this simple stuff in Year 3 of his tenure makes me think there's little hope for him.

Players have to be coached up so it's on Pep more than Luck. Luck doesn't utilize the play action

and never has very often, he hands the ball off and stares down the RB which tells all of the 

defensive unit to fly to the ball.

Let me get this straight swap one oc who didn't call plays (Pep at Stanford) for another former oc that didn't call plays (Philbin at Green Bay)   NO THANKS!!!!!!

No, his play calling has been fair. Just lack of execution (drops, fumbles, bad throws) is what makes Pep look bad.
