I like him. Big strong run blocker with the Wisconsin pedigree.

Although, he is stiff and not very athletic. He's not a 1st round pick. I wouldn't hate picking him in the 3rd, but personally I have a 4th round grade on him due to his athletic and technical short comings.

Somebody will take him in the low 2nd/high 3rd most likely.

4th-5th round grade.

Also had a absolutely horrible combine.

He's not athletic, but he would be playing RT so you don't expect him to be Jake Fisher or T.J. Clemmings. I think that recently we've become so used to athletic lineman like Fisher, Joekel, Matthews, etc...blowing up the combine that we forgot that not all lineman have to be athletic freaks.

If your not athletic, then you must be strong to be a successful OLman. But He not even didn't run well, but he put up a OL-low 16 reps.... not good

Rob Havenstein = Zack Martin.

I'd love for him to be available at 29. This kid made Melvin Gordon a star. If the colts could land him and sign Iupati from Sanfransico , their online could be the best in the league. Any thoughts?

Iupati was the WORST rated pass blockeing guard last season. A Thornton who can run block. Ugh!

It's about functional strength though. You have to look at tape for that, and his tape shows he's powerful enough. Here's a small snippet that shows him knocking defenders around:

I'd consider him in the 2nd but if possible I'd trade down and gain an extra pick and get him in the 3rd if he is there, Wish he had more athleticism but he aint no slouch in that category despite what his combine says, He moves well enough and can flip his hips and turn his man to create a hole in the run game

If some team selects Haverstein in the first round it will be stunning.   So, I suspect he'll be available at 29.

I'm not sure why you thnk 6'7" Haverstein = 6'4" Martin.    They don't look alike or play alike.    If you're saying you think Haverstein will do for the Colts what Martin did for Dallas....    well....   I'd have to see it to believe it.

I think he's a low 3rd - high 4th round pick.

That's about where everyone had him. The highest I saw was late 2bd but most right in the 3-4 area and that was before he bombed the combine He could be a guy that really slips.

    • I have read numerous scouts and they had him ranked as the  #3 WR in the draft based on talent. I loved the pick but let's not fool ourselves, there is something that made him drop to the 2nd. I am not going to say it is character and/or lack of production. Ballard can go on his rant all he wants, but there was a reason. If he succeeds and becomes a legit #1, then we will wont care. My guess is if he fails to live up the hype, then we  it will leak out why he never reached his full potential. At this point, I couldn't care a less, as I loved the pick at the time and it was the Colts taking a chance with some questions about Mitchell. The one thing I did not like was Ballard going on his rant is he should have just kept quiet and said we like he player. Him going on a rant leaves him open to criticism if for example Mitchell does not work out and say it comes out that he has a poor attitude, work ethic etc.
    • Actually,  I don't think you can really say who is the #2. I think, they actually want Pittman to be relegated to that role as they are hoping that Mitchell or Pierce can finally assume that take the top of the defense  #1 wr.  I don't put to much stock in Mitchell unseating Downs as they play to different positions. Downs is the slot and Mitchell is hopefully that legit #1 that the Colts have never had. So in saying, Mitchell will not be unseating Downs, as they will be asked to do different things. I think the Colts are just hoping to have that legit #1 guy and then everyone else can play the role they were drafted for. If Mitchell or Pierce break out, you will see the ball spread out to the remainder of the WR's and TE's.
    • Keep in mind, with drops, it has always been very subjective to whether it was a “drop” or not. Which is why the rates vary so much
    • That is about how much I heard he might get. I am glad it is over and we are not waiting for the other shoe to drop (leave in FA or choose not to play).   Now, all the pressure is on him to perform
