Do you think we'll ever have an elite Offensive Line?

The oline is the number 1 priority , don't spend one penny until your o line guys that u want are set ,we have one starter and 4 pretty alright backup (last yr starters) on the team right now we need 4 starters on the oline 3 might come thru free agency and 1 thru draft

i hope we get 4 new oline starters

I think we will get 2 more maybe 3. One from free agency (Vasquez, Long, Levitre) and Jonathon Cooper. I'd be ecstatic if we can get 2 from free agency. I would LOVE our O-line to be Costanzo, Vazques, Long and Cooper. And then maybe Justice. That would be ideal for me.

Why would you put Long at guard? I wouldn't even think about adding Long for the 10+ million he wants.

Pretty sure the only way to build an offensive line, or defensive line, or secondary for that matter is to either draft them or sign guys as free agents. No real way to do it any way else.

No you can trade( Winston Justice).  I realize that I stated the obvious, but have been blasted on here for not doing just that.  So have fun.

I expect what we are able to do in free agency and the draft this year with the Oline will start to show improvement around weeks 8 -10. At the end of the 2013 season we will just need a couple of pieces in the 2014 off season to solidify our Oline. Just my guess.

Dream O-Line for next season...

Anthony Castonzo   Jonathan Cooper   AQ Shipley   Ben Ijalana   Sebastien Vollmer

Of course that is me banking on Ijalana making a full recovery and playing at the level that he proved at Villanova he is capable of. He absolutely dominated with ease in College. I do see him as a Guard though as his measurables are more suited to it. He is a great pass protector and has the strength to open up lanes for runs as well. I realize ability is no good on the sidelines and durability is hugely important, but I'm talking about a perfect world situation and in that world Ijalana fulfills his potential. I see him long term as a better option to Louis Vasquez. The one issue might be that he was drafted for a different system, but I think he has the skillset to be a man blocking guard.

Vollmer is the other guy with the health issues, if doctors can guarantee the longterm health of his back, then I believe we would be acquiring arguably the best right tackle in football.

Cooper is just a top notch football player and is as polished as it comes at Guard, I don't think anyone would be annoyed if we got him at #24. He is actually considered by many to be a better pass blocker than Warmack.

This is definitely a pass blocking line, but I believe the size and power is there to push back the d-line for the power run game and make this an efficient, versatile offense.

I may be saying this with my optimist hat on as I so often do at this time of year... but I believe this line, coupled with the year behind all our rookies, and a hopefully great new system could lead us to having one the NFL's very best offenses next year. Defense though is another story, I think we are a few years away from being were we need to be there.

    • I’m hoping we play the Vikings in October or November, so I can attend.
    • Both Flacco and Ehlinger are free agents.  Uncertain about the long list of upcoming QB FAs that we could target next season.  Remember AR is still very raw only played one full season much like Caleb Williams in college with very similar snap count and production.  I do see the Colts looking for potentially two backup replacements but also someone very early in Round 2 as a backup (with strong upside as a starter a must).  Jalen Milroe (Alabama) is my top front-runner and may see his draft stock rise to early Round 1, but right now if he is available to us in Round 2 then he becomes our next Flacco/Minshew.  Either Grayson McCall or KJ Jefferson could be potential draft replacements for Ehlinger.    Right now, can see us next year go Edge again in Round 1.  Both Ebukam and Lewis will be in their 30's and contracts up at the end of 2025.
    • I don't know. There's some potential late games. Lions, Steelers, Bills, Dolphins, Packers. Texans for sure
    • Agree, feels very late this year.    The NFL teams are preparing schedule release videos as we speak right now!
    • Simmons is someone the NFL and every referee unit continues to have their eye on during every play. The moment he does a big hit (he usually doesn't care about how and where he hits), the league is gonna serve him a 4 game ban. He would spend most of the year suspended, unless he plays by rules which he doesn't seem to want.    Do you think Ballard gets that type of player, with year long availability in question? There's a reason he's available in FA, not because he's waiting, but because only the teams that are okay with his style of play and its consequences will get him before the start of the season. Not sure Colts is that team.
