Trade down Colts draft

Recommended Posts

-Colts trade 2nd for early 3, 4

-Colts trade 2015 4th and RB Vick Ballard for 2014 4, 5

Round 3 Pick 6 (JAX): Jeremiah Attaochu, OLB, Georgia Tech (A)
Round 3 Pick 26: Deone Bucannon, SS, Washington State (A)
Round 4 Pick 5 (JAX): Jaylen Watkins, CB, Florida (A)
Round 4 Pick 14 (JAX): Dion Bailey, FS, Southern California (A-)
Round 5 Pick 4 (JAX): Josh Huff, WR, Oregon (A)
Round 5 Pick 26: Jerick McKinnon, RB, Georgia Southern (A-)
Round 6 Pick 27: Aaron Lynch, DE, South Florida (B)
Round 7 Pick 17: Aaron Colvin, CB, Oklahoma (C+)

I don't think the trades are very far fetched and with the exception of Bucannon lasting to the end of the 3rd, most picks are pretty realistic. I have us trading Ballard because I think we will be just fine at RB with T-Rich and Bradshaw, not too mention I think McKinnon is a steal late in round 5. Plus Jacksonville has a need at RB so they would consider this deal.

With this draft, we have a killer secondary, and can let LaRon Landry go after this year if we want. We also get an underrated pass rusher in Attaochu who can strengthen our pass rush. Huff is a good get at WR in case we can't resign Nicks next year.

We are going to have to trade up for Attaochu, an option I am growing increasingly in favor of.

I like Jaylen Watkins. He actually played free safety at Florida and provides some flexibility in where you could play him.

I also like the Jerick McKinnon pick. I think he is a diamond in the rough. He played a couple of different positions in college, great speed, could be a sleeper. Plus, we have Ballard coming off the knee, Bradshaw with the neck, and Richardson yet to show up from Cleveland.

Still have doubts about our interior OLine.  I think we should sign a Guard or Center in FA for insurance.  I also heard the Safety depth in the Draft isn't that good, but I could be wrong.  Don't know Louis or Thomas Status for next season.  Maybe pick up Wharton and draft a center.  The draft needs could be mostly defense with FS, CB, DL.  Maybe a TE if we can find a steal in the late rounds.

Vick Ballard is not worth a 4th rounder right now. RB market is soft and he is coming off of an ACL tear. If a team really wanted to get Vick Ballard and we wanted another pick... I think we are looking at nothing more than a 6th rounder. I may be wrong, of course. However, I feel confident in my opinion.

In a favorable scenario to trade Vick Ballard for maximum return we would have to showcase him a bit during the season and get a team that is RB needy in mid season that is still competitive in their hunt for a division title. Maybe then... we could fetch a 4th round pick.
