He agreed to a three-year contract with the Indianapolis Colts, according to his agent.

There was no announcement from the team. Veteran free-agent contracts cannot be signed until Friday.

Colts punter Pat McAfee was quick to respond to the news via Twitter: “Vinatieri will be a Colts for at least 3 more years. He was #Hyped.’’

Vinatieri, 38, is considered the best clutch placekicker in NFL history and is coming off one of the best seasons of his 15-year career. He converted 26-of-28 field-goal attempts during the regular season, then went 3-for-3 in the playoff loss to the New York Jets. Vinatieri’s 50-yard field goal with 53 seconds remaining gave the Colts a 16-14 lead. this is the link>>My link

This is awesome - Vinatieri quietly had one of his best seasons ever as a pro last year with a 26/28 performance and what SHOULD have been, yet another game-winning FG at 50 yards, no less, against the Jets

Just hope we didn't overpay, but very happy to have this future Hall of Famer on the roster for another 3 years

hes getting kinda weak legged..but im not gonna b debby downer on here..hes clutch n better than @ least 75% of everybody else..GO COLTS!!!

True, but in fairness, our offense rarely puts our kickers in bad situations where they have to attempt long FGs - besides, he'll be playing over half his games in a dome every year.

Was there really any doubt when he marched onto the field to kick the 50 yarder against the Jets despite his declining leg strength? Besides, McAfee handling kick-offs ensures Vinatieri's golden leg stays fresh

Was about to say the same thing.

Adam is a legend, and that is an exceedingly rare compliment for a kicker. There are literally only a few, a small handful of kicks that draw reverence from NFL historians. Out of the countless thousands of FG's made in NFL history, only a few are heralded. Adam has two or three of them to his credit.

I wanted to throw the guy off the train after that infamous SD potential game winning 23 yarder he missed several years ago. The guy was hurting and he has since rebounded famously.

So far, the signings bode well for the Colts upcoming season.
