So, it is Mike Tomlin, not Nick Sirianni that may not return.

Who was responsible for drafting Pickett? That's who the sword should fall on.

The Steelers need to upgrade QB. And if they can, they need a more dynamic RB. Harris is fine but he's more Bus than LeVeon and that's not a good thing in 2024

I've been cautious saying it out loud but that's who he reminds me of. Young Peyton with mobility tuned up a notch.

The only reason I'm not sad is because we have a QB that's an even bigger problem IMHO

I was lightly pointing to this when I kept pointing out his college stats were better than Peyton. Also I kept pointing to the cerebral part of his game and the accuracy.

To be fair, the Texans didn’t “do everything necessary”.

They sat back at 2, while the Panthers threw everything and the sink at moving up to get Young.

They did everything and fired everyone involved in that to date disaster of a decision

Who do you think Texans would of taken in the draft if Stroud went to 1st

Browns have had way to many coverage busts and that goes back to play design and confusion.

You’re the deep safety, WR runs at your face and you don’t turn to cover. That’s not play design, that’s just bad coverage.

I think that game in Minnesota after the 2015 season was one of the coldest playoff games, probably colder than the one tonight. Kicker Walsh missed a 27yard FG, IIRC. Vikings lost to the Seahawks. Had he made the FG, Vikings would have won with time expiring.  :grumpy2:

AR can play in Stroud’s shadow (albeit very well) and the colts can still beat the Texans in the division. They don’t have to be mutually exclusive.

That’s fair. It was just obnoxious with RG3 and Luck.

Please god I hope their OC gets a HC job.

He won’t, too many good coaches in the FA market. Teams like to see 2 years from an OC first, like with Ben Johnson of Lions.

I think they draft well. But the longtime GM retired a year or two ago.

No idea, but they didn’t do everything necessary. If they wanted 100% control they would’ve moved up.

If anything this just shows they WEREN’T 100% on Stroud and would’ve been happy with whoever at 2.

I think in terms of stats. They're of such vastly different generations that the stats don't matter as much I think. Peyton's stats from college pall in comparison to a lot of QBs recently. Offense got more ingrained in the game - from high school through to  pros

That’s the BIGGEST thing we have going for us. Our Play caller is our head coach. Slowick keeps this up he’ll be gone next year. Don’t see it happening already.

Seen plenty of younger QB’s have a drop off in performance when they get introduced to too many play callers. Happened with Luck too

AR has to prove it, Stoud has been doing it since week 5

I think AR can do it too. He needs to work on his touch this off season. Seemed like he had a good amount of fast balls.

Yes, that is a fair statement regarding the Texans. I would  just like to see Ballard more proactive this offseason and not let both the draft board and  FA “Fall’” to him in the name of “High Value” The team needs difference makers .Ballard likes to drop in the draft and accumulate picks. Dropping back has yielded Cross and Pierce- among others, and yes both are still developing…

‘Hoping to see a more aggressive approach.

If people seriously believe the league is rigged why on earth are you watching?

Same reason I watch WWE. I understand it's scripted, but like WWE where I have my favorite wrestlers and follow their journey throughout their career to see how they progress and win titles, I do the same with football, I follow a team and the players on that team and their journey to win a SB. It's really the same thing except wrestling admits it's scripted and other sports don't.

So, Belichick, Carroll and maybe Tomlin will not return next year? That is three of the most winningest coaches leaving the NFL in the same year. Is John Harbaugh next?

Tomlin hasn’t really “won” though in a long time. He keeps them average and that weird Steelers luck keeps finding them in the playoffs, but it’s been a minute since the Steelers have played good winning football.

I do think it’s weird if they let Tomlin go and keep their GM who hasn’t really brought in enough talent.

    • Ballard does have thick skin.  You just choose to not to see it that way.      Ballard is the face and voice of the franchise.  Irsay’s health does not make him an effective public face of the franchise.  Frank was OK, Steichen less so.   So Ballard does the lion share of teams PR.    And Ballard has always said he’d rather the fans be angry than be apathetic.  Shows they care.  Of course, you know this but choose not to acknowledge it because it undercuts your distorted view of CB.   I don’t know what CBs relationship is with Kevin Bowen who I like.   So let’s say it’s complicated.   But on balance I think Ballard has a good relationship with the local media.  I’d be surprised if he didn’t.  He is loved by national media.  He’s got a personality and a sense of humor.  I’m sorry you don’t care for it.    Of course you have yet to acknowledge that you and Moose literally said that Ballard didn’t know enough about Mitchell to know if he was a good guy.   For a man in your profession, THAT is a whopper.  Why you thought that is a mystery?   By the way, hope you notice that at least twice I’ve now said you’re smarter than you show.  There’s a compliment in there somewhere if you let yourself see it.    But I think you’ve painted yourself into a corner.  You come across as someone who’d rather be right about Ballard being bad even if it means the Colts do poorly than be wrong and have the Colts do well.    The reason Irsay hasn’t fired Ballard for the teams record is because Irsay approved of what CB was doing in real time.   Believe what you want but Irsay has done the GM job himself so he knows how it goes.  And he has chosen to keep Ballard.  Unless you don’t like Irsay too, you might want to consider that.  Life is more fun being optimistic than negative.     Sorry this went so long.
    • I think it’s backwards.  MPJ is definitely Reggie based on skill set and tendencies.  AD can become Marvin with his explosiveness.   Raimann - I think he’ll be Castonzo.  Ol reliable, underappreciated, majority won’t realize how good he was until he’s gone.   AD - if he becomes what we think he can, Ocho Cinco.  Cocky, competitive, but will perform his butt off and will dance every chance he gets lol   Jelani Woods - Jimmy Graham, fast for his size, walking mismatch.
    • speaking of which, I’m about to win some good money.  I bet that brown would be FMVP, the Celtics would win the series, and it last at least 4 games.
    • more reason to believe that after the top 3 wide receivers, Latu was their guy.  To not accept an offer to move back ONLY 4 spots and gain a top 100 pick is hard to do.  Bet if the rams through in a second instead of a third we might’ve took it.   think about it, if you move back 4 spots you’d still have a shot at one of the two top corners or even Dallas turner.  And we said no thanks, we want Latu.
