Over the 4 years it only works out to $8.5m AAV. 4yrs $34.5m.

Yeah, not overly excited or upset. Been a big worry of mine for a while, but I can handle this, was worry about $15-$20m.

Yeah I was worried when he started with the “best LB in the league” talk.

Edit: Im actually back to the AAV will be closer to $8.35m, but yeah, been a concern of mine.

2024 $2.88m base, $3m SB, $510k Roster bonus total cap hit - $6.39m

2025 $5m base, $3m SB total cap hit - $8m

2026 $6m base, $3m SB total cap hit - $9m

2027 $7m base, $3m SB total cap hit - $10m

So deal ends up looking like

4yrs $33.39m $12m SB($15.39m guaranteed)

$8.35m AAV

So I guess there's a little bit of relief in it.

Ironic that Zaire is the first sighing/extension.  A defensive player.  I think we were all expecting Moore or Grover.  I think it shows that Ballard is focusing on getting his defense in place for a run.  He and his cap specialist felt they could do this now even when heading to FA. There is a plan in place.  Can’t wait to see how the week unfolds.

Just gonna post this here as well. Will get lost in other thread.

My estimation on how much cap we have used today and how much we have left.

Franklin + $3m

Pittman - $5m

Lewis + $5m

Stewart + $10m

$18m off the cap.

So sitting about $31-$35m currently in my estimate.

By my count based off your figures, and it should be $21M off the cap.

It's definitely not that, but my numbers are wrong:

Should be $13m.

Franklin, Lewis, Stewart are + $18m

Pittman actually saves money from franchise tag, so he is - $5m

So $13m off the cap, so new cap space should be $36-$41m

not sure if this helps you track the cap space or not.

Let me try to decipher it.

2024 - $1.7m base, $510k($30k per game)

2025 - $3.28m base, $1m RB, $510k($30k per game)

$2.3m in available incentives

That only tallies up to $7m + $2.3m possible incentives.

Missing $2.7m somewhere

Maybe he had a $2.7m SB?

Will continue to monitor.

Here is Tyquan Lewis contract details.

2024 - $1.7m base, $2.5m SB, $510k($30k per game) - total cap hit - $4.71m

2025 - $3.28m base, $2.5m SB, $1m RB, $510k($30k per game) - total cap hit - $7.29m($2.5m dead cap)

So Lewis contract and (1) player falling off top 51($915k), net cap hit

$3.795m for 2024

Link to comment

Grover Stewart contract details:

2024 - $4.49m base, $2m SB, $3.5m RB, $330k($19.4k per game) - total cap hit - $10.32m

2025 -$7.74m base, $2m SB, $4m RB, $510k($30k per game) - total cap hit - $14.25m ($8m dead cap)

2026 - $11.74m base, $2m SB, $519k($30k per game) - total cap hit - $14.25m ($2m dead cap)

So Grovers net cap hit is $9.405m, after (1) $915k falls below top 51.

Still waiting for Pittman and Zaire numbers to post. They should offset each other cap wise though I anticipate.

Zaire will be $3-$4m more than current cap hit

Pittman will be $4-$5m less than current cap hit.

Before update:

OtC is showing $36m in space

Spotrac is showing $39m in space

So far I am ahead on with my estimation numbers

Stewart + $9.405m(-$595k)

Lewis + $3.795m(-$1.205m)

$1.8m less than I expected(pretty much the (2) players that dropped below top 51)

So our cap might be sitting at $38-$41m by the time all the dust settles.

***Still waiting for official numbers to come in on (5) contracts, Pittman numbers, and new Zaire Franklin numbers.

Still feel good about current space being in the $16-$19m range.  Need $3m for draft picks(top 51 cap hit).

Plenty of ways to free up another $20-$25m, if need be.

Just wanted to touch base with where I think the cap space sits currently. Still waiting for mass updates.

Listed Cap Space:

Spotrac - $32,563,348(72 players on roster)

OtC - $31,913,378(70 players on roster)

Anyway, I have 72 players on the roster as well like Spotrac. Spotrac has (6) players contracts not updated, Pittman's extension and Zaire Franklin's extension.

Players name with cap increase from current listed Cap Hit

Franklin +$3m

Moore +$7m

Flacco +$3.6m

Sanchez +$1.6m

Harrison +1m

Sermon - minimum

Avery - minimum

That totals up to: $16.2m

Pittman will save money on the cap, will go conservative with -$3m .

So $13.2m off of the listed Cap Hits above puts us at:

Spotrac - $19.3m

OtC - $18.7m

*** again these are just my estimates as we wait for official numbers to roll in.

Salary Update:

These were my cap hit projections.

Players name with cap increase from current listed Cap Hit(actual cap hit addition)

Franklin +$3m

Moore +$7m (-$6.1m)

Flacco +$3.6m

Sanchez +$1.6m

Harrison +1m

Sermon - minimum (+$140k)

Avery - minimum

Pittman -$3m (-$3.82m)

Still waiting on updates on the ones without ( )

+$9.3m in addition salaries.

So I will say my new salary cap projections after these updates is:

Spotrac - **$21m

OtC - **$20.2m

**My projection on outstanding updates to contracts, based off of current listed cap space on those sites.

Sanchez +$1.6m($0)

Harrison +1m

Sermon - minimum (+$140k)

Spotrac - **$21m

OtC - **$20.2m

**My projection on outstanding updates to contracts, based off of current listed cap space on those sites.

So Franklin is actually+$5.25m

So need to take away an additional $2.25m

Avery is a wash, no real cap affect

So my new projections are:

Spotrac - $18.75m

OtC - $17.9m

only Flacco and Harrison left in updated.

Yep got all them figured iny projections above.

Harrison might be a minimum and just reflect about $100k on the cap or something, I have him down for a $2m deal, so counting about $1m

Flacco has $4.5m, but $950k will drop off top 51 so $3.6m cal hit.

So $4.6m off OtC listed space.

Got it at $17.9m

Could be closer to $19m if Harrison is vet minimum.

OtC - $22,602,296(73(2) players shown under contract) **estimate $18.1m

Both sites have updated all but 2 guys now:

Flacco - $3.515m($985k falls off of top 51)($4.5m)

Harrison - $1.015m($985k fall off of top 51)($2m)

$4.53m top 51 cap hit for the both of them combined. Subtract that from Spotrac and OtC listed numbers above and my projected remaining cap space is:

Spotrac - $18.7m

OtC - $18.1m

**could be about $1m more cap space each if Harrison comes in on the veterans minimum contract. I have him projected at a $2m deal right now. Flacco's seems pretty self explanatory. 1 yr $4.5m guaranteed

5.151 - $876,797

6.191 - $840,061

7.234 - $820,427

Updated our own FA's list with contract amounts.

Also updated the price for each draft pick.

Sneed trade goes through we will need about $2.7m top 51 cap space to sign draft picks. As every signing now $985k drops below top 51 line.

If we don't trade 3rd for Sneed, we will need $3.3m for draft picks.

And for the record Zaire's extension gave him $5.25m extra cap hit this season. His contract is a weirder one by Ballard. Year 1 is 2nd highest cap hit of the contract, year 4 is #1.

2024 - $8.64m guaranteed

2025 - $7.5m guaranteed

2026 - $8.225m ($2.5m dead cap)

2027 - $10.225m ($1.25m dead cap)

Can't tell you how relieved I am about this. Was worried for way to long that the Colts were going to lock him up to a big extension. This doesn't qualify for that to me.

So while I'm not really giving him more money, this is at least acceptable and actually a big relief to me.

OtC - $22,434,796(73 players shown under contract) **estimate $18.8m

Alright only contract that isn't updated yet is Flacco, but I think it is about as easy to predict as there is . 1yr $4.5m guaranteed w/ incentives

So Flacco will only count $3.515m against the cap after $985,k player drops below top 51.

So feel good about remaining cap space being in the $18.8m-$19.4m currently.

Alright, with FA slowing down, figure it's a good time to look at biggest needs and available options more in depth, either via draft or FA. Was going to post in discussion thread, but that discussion has moved elsewhere.

S:(7) Rodney Thomas, Nick Cross, Daniel Scott, Trevor Denbow, Marcel Dabo, Kendell Brooks, Michael Tutsie

I think Cross is probably locked in as SS starter.

Thomas we've seen plenty of, more downs than ups. Scott was on IR all last year, but Ballard has spoken very highly of him.

Still some good options available:

FA:

Simmons

Diggs

Jackson

Walker

Maye

Draft:

Nubin(late 1st- way 2nd)

Bullard(2nd)

Hicks(2nd)(more of SS)

Kitchens(2nd-3rd)

Bullock(2nd-3rd)

Taylor-Demerson(3rd)

This next one, I don't feel is as big of a need as a lot of people around here, CB. However, if we can acquire a guy that potentially makes Jones and Flowers the CB 4+5, the team will be stronger for it. Will list a few FA options, but moving on from Sneed, I think we address it with a CB in the draft.

Remaining options:

FA:

Howard

Jackson

Gilmore

Maddox

Nelson

Witherspoon

Draft:

Mitchell(1st)

Arnold(1st)

Wiggins(1st)

Kool-Aid(1st)

Dejean(1st)

Rakestraw( 2nd)

Tampa(2nd)

Sainristil(2nd)

Lassiter(2nd)

Jackson (2nd-3rd)

WR:(9) Michael Pittman, Alex Pierce, Josh Downs, Ashton Dulin, DJ Montgomery, Juwann Winfree, Tyrie Cleveland, Ethan Fernea, Terrell Bynum

I think Pierce is fine, but we could definitely use a 4th guy that can produce. Not likely we bring in a FA option, will list a couple, but more than likely going to be a draft pick.

Options:

Gallup

Watkins

Reynolds

Draft:

BTJ(1st)

Mitchell(1st)

Mcconkey(late 1st)

Worthy(1st)

Franklin (2nd)

Wilson(2nd)

Pearsall(2nd)

Burton(2nd-3rd)

Really would love to trade down to #25 with GB and pick up #41 in the process. We might have to throw in our 3rd/ or 2025 3rd(preferably) to make it closer on the trade chart.

That would allow the Colts to fill 3 big spots with top 50 prospects.

CB

S

WR

If we could come away with

S - Nubin

CB - Tampa

WR - Franklin

Or really any top 50 combination I listed above, would be nice.

How would you approach this?

Pinter's contract came in at 1yr $1,222,500($500,000 guaranteed)

He only knocked about $237,500 off of the top 51 cap space.

Flacco still waiting to be updated($3.515m), as waiting in Taven Bryan update as well.

Sti have up at $18.3m to $18.9m, of Taven comes in around same number as Pinter. Can't imagine him getting anywhere near what he got last year.

Flacco still waiting to be updated($3.515m), as waiting in Taven Bryan update as well.

Sti have up at $18.3m to $18.9m, of Taven comes in around same number as Pinter. Can't imagine him getting anywhere near what he got last year.

So only about 8 million left to sign any FA? Looks like we are heading into the season with cross or Thomas at FS again. Maybe both as starters.

How are you getting 8 when he said 18?  Rookies won't cost 10.  I know Ballard doesn't really do back loaded contracts,  but it's an option.   You are also assuming everyone that's currently signed will play here this year.   Or restructuring current contracts.   Some free agents will absolutely be brought in

Because I have seen they need ten for draft prospects and in season moves.

Probably a little less tbh.

$18.9m(go with high estimate)

-$2.7m(draft picks top 51 cap hit)

-$2.2m(practice squad)

-$1.8m(when roster goes back to top 53)

$13.2m(probably save $7-$8m in season)

$5.2m left

Now, that $6.9m I have bolded up there doesn't matter now though. Will just have to make a move by regular season.

As we know, Mo Alie-Cox almost covers that whole amount. $5.9m.

**Also though, something to remember, with every signing $985k drops off.

So any UDFA won't count against it

Rounds 4-7 don't count against it.

Any minimum player we sign will have maximum cap hit $70-$140k.

Have (16) roster spots.

If we sign a FS for $5m, will only cost about $4m top 51.

***Also that $1.8m(back to top 53), might not even matter. Just depends how many players we keep below the top 51 we keep. We could actually end up in the positive side of money depending who we send packing.

At this point you’re not getting any kind of FS for that cheap. This has been Ballards worse off season to date. Probably another rookie corner and FS. We have no clue who is going to be our strong FS. It’s just all bad. Thomas should not be the starter at FS.

It was just an example.

I'm done explaining it.

This isn't the negative thread, take that stuff over there

2024 Cap Space:

Spotrac - $18,759,348(75(1) players shown under contract) **estimate $18.5m

OtC - $18,182,296(75(1) players shown under contract) **estimate $17.9m

Joe Flacco's numbers have came in $5m cap hit($4.015m top 51)

Both sites still need to update Taven Bryan's numbers.(What the 1 in the () means)

For my estimate above, I have him at about $1.25m.

So anything higher than that will reduce the estimated Cap space above
