I'm bored way too early mock off season

Mock Off-Season 2022 (Ideal/kinda realistic kinda not)

Cap  Space - around 50M (after retirees)

Re-sign/Retire/Cuts

Jack Doyle - Retires :(

TY Hilton - Retires :(

Ben Banogu - cut

Mo Alie-Cox - 3years/6M

Matt Pryor - 2years/4M

Mark Glowinski - 2years/6M

Chris Reed - 2 years/3M

George Odum - 1year/1.5M

Michael Badgley - 2 years/2M

Matthew Adams - 2years/2M

Zaire Franklin - 3years/6.5M

Cap Space - around 38M

Free agents - I think Ballard will be aggressive this year. I recall him saying something about all the chips going in at some point after the Jags loss. Sie note probably paying a little too much for everyone but higher rated free agents are coming are way this year.

Haason Reddick - 4years/56M (load contract over year 2 and 3(only 6M this year tops)) Brings a veteran presence and sacks/pressure

Levi Wallace - 3years/20M upgrade at outside corner

Chris Godwin - 4years/68M (load his contract heavy over year 2 and 3(only 8M this year tops and can probably get away with it due to his injury))

David Njoku - 3years/10M can catch balls and block Bill picked him he is a good tight end

Sammy Watkins - 2years/5M veteran presence and can catch balls

Alec Ogletree - 1year/1M He knows how to tackle and read defenses. Wrong scheme but he knows the game.

Cap Space - around 12M

Draft - Needs Tier 1 - LT/QB  Tier 2 S/DE/CB  (Just did a PFF mock draft simulator I dont know the most about the prospects yet)

Trade With broncos for R2 and early R3 pick

R2 - T - Max Mitchell - HUGE risk better reward best tackle in my opinion just the wrong side. Hopefully he can transition to LT with no Hickups. If so he will start for the next decade.

R3 - T - Kellen Diesch -  Another tackle lets figure out this left tackle situation for the long term. If both work out lets make a trade or keep depth and not have to worry about a tackle for 4 years.

R3 - CB - Marcus Jones - A great kick/punt returner but hopefully he lines up opposite of Wallace for the long future

R4 - DL - Josh Paschel (small 3T big edge but moves well for both positions) - A good Versitile D Lineman an upgraded Tyquan Lewis. He wont drop this far but if he does...

R5 - S - Brad Hawkins - Depth/competition????

R5 - G - Josh Rivas - Depth/competition???

R6 - RB - Travis Dye - Purely depth???

Colts 2 Deep

Wentz has no excuses what so ever. I went this route to give him a chance for the long term. I plan on making another down the road where I replace him.

Spending too much money this way but, if he wants to put all his chips in this is one way to do so.

QB - Wentz, Ehlinger

RB - MVP, Hines

TE - Njuko, Alie-Cox

WR - Pittman, Campbell

WR - Godwin, Watkins

LT - Diesch/Mitchell, Pryor

LG - Nelson, Reed

C - Kelly, Pinter

RG - Glowinski, Rivas

RT - Smith, Mitchell/Diesch

DE - Reddick, Paschel

DT - Buckner, Lewis

NT - Stewert, Williams

DE - Paye, Dayo

WLB - Leonard, Speed

MLB - Okereke, Ogletree

SLB - Adams, Franklin

CB -  Wallace, Ya-Sin,

CB - Moore, Jones/Rodgers

FS - Blackman, Odum

SS - Willis, Hawkins

K - Badgley

P - Sanchez

LS - Rhodes

Reddick does not fit scheme; he's a 3-4 OLB or a situation rusher, not a player you'd want to play 4 downs at DE with his Gilbert Gardner size.

There are at least a few that think Reddick can play with his hand in the dirt,

If you think of the DE as a rotational piece, he would end up being on the field 60-70% of the time

Its having 3 DEs and they rotate through

Its keeps everyone fresh

I would rather have Landry as I think he as better fit, but Reddick seems to get a little better every year

Id like either

On the OTs  I looked up their files, and the little I read are questioning both of their abilities to go to LT.

My fear is 1/2 the teams seem to be needed their LT of the future

They are almost like QBs and DE, its tough to get someone who is a star in the mid 2nd....  Its happened but its a shot

Thanks for doing this, I always like to read them

I love seeing what people do with FA contracts. These numbers seem great but very few will be even close. Glow will make more for sure. David Njoku will for sure make more.

Its been that way since the beginning.  Fans are wildly off about money.   In both directions.   Either wildly high or way, way too little.   It’s that way every year.

You forgot about Q's new contract.

It will happen.   No matter how many scream and yell about it

I wont ever include that one till it is finalized. I have no idea what it would be. It could be anywhere from 4-8 years .

It won’t be 4 years.  Likely too short.

And it won’t be 7-8 years, way too long.  Not sure any OL has ever signed a deal that long.

Odds are extremely high it will be 5 or 6 years.    Among the things to look for, is his 5th year, 2022, does that remain as is,  or do the Colts rip it up,  and start his new deal this year?   Maybe, but not likely.   Too expensive.

Odds are, the new deal,  probably done soon, will go into effect next year.   So he’d have this year, plus a new 5-year deal on top of that.   6 years in total.   So a 5-year, $100 million dollar new deal may look like 6-years and $114 mill with his 5th year option factored in.

Another thing to look for is the total amount of guaranteed money.   The low end might be 33-40 percent of his $100 million in new money.   But I’m expecting much more.  Over 50 percent and perhaps 60 percent.  That number would NOT all be on a signing bonus.  Some would be, and the rest would have all or most of his salary in 23 and 24 and maybe even 25, fully or mostly guaranteed.  That’s how many of these super large deals get managed.   The Colts are extremely savvy at managing these deals.
