Colts Waiver Claims Thread

Mohammad was an elite hs recruit that chose the canes over Notre Dame. As a Canes fan, he always seemed on the verge of breaking out but never did. He was suspended for a year for breaking someone’s jaw.

In richt’s 1st year both Jermaine Grace (cut by us, but made browns roster) and AQM were supposed to break out but were suspended.

Don't know either name but I couldn't tell you 95 percent of the rookies names in this league.

Neither of these guys are rookies, there's some NFL tape on them.. makes me bit more comfortable that they could pan out for us, easier to translate/project success than from college game.

Muhammad played well for the Saints last preseason  but they were pretty deep at DE and didn't get much playing time during the season.

Here is a bit from Saints blog 2017

Second-year Saints who can make a big splash

EDGE Al-Quaddin Muhammad

Al-Quaddin Muhammad was the talk of the 2017 preseason, and for good reason. He tied Cincinnati’s Jordan Willis to lead all rookies in sacks during the summer exhibition games (4) and looked the part of New Orleans’ long-sought edge rusher. But when the games started to matter in the regular season Muhammad was put on ice, and played just 24 defensive snaps. The Saints tried to get him some action on special teams, but that just wasn’t an area he was strong in.

Since starting the offseason it appears all Muhammad has done is hit the gym and support youth programs in his hometown of Irvington, New Jersey. He reported to voluntary team workouts in great shape and should take a big leap forward in his second year on a pro strength-and-conditioning regimen. It’s worth noting that he hadn’t appeared in a real football game or undergone organized training prior to last year’s preseason since December 2015 due to getting scapegoated in Miami’s latest booster violations

Corey Moore: Cut by Houston

by RotoWire Staff

Aug 31, 2018 •

Moore was released by the Texans on Friday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Moore had previously been a starter for the Texans, but he lost ground on the depth chart and got squeezed out of a roster spot. The Texans signed free agent Tyrann Mathieu and drafted Justin Reid before also moving Kareem Jackson from cornerback to safety, with the flurry of moves making Moore superfluous.

Moore (knee) is participating at Texans' practice this week.

Moore landed on injured reserve in December with a Grade 2 MCL sprain and had yet to recover from the injury in late June. However, he appears fully healthy with training camp now underway. The 25-year-old should be competing for a role as a depth safety and special teams contributor, given the Texans' addition of Tyrann Mathieu in the offseason.

On March 8, 2018, Moore signed a one-year contract with the Texans for $630,000

DE Al-Quadin Muhammad I'm guessing will be cheaper to have on roster than Simon.

It appears so.

Here is what I found on his contract:

https://herosports.com/nfl/al-quadin-muhammad-net-worth-2018-new-orleans-saints-cgcg

WHAT IS AL-QUADIN MUHAMMAD'S CAP HIT FOR 2018?

Muhammad ranks 67th on the Saints active roster with a $593K cap hit for 2018...

...Muhammad's cap hit for 2019 of $683K ranks 1015th overall in the NFL, including any and all roster and signing bonuses.

Thanks.

A lot more affordable than Simon who I heard was due $3 million on monday.

Colts talk about waves & waves of pass rushers. Apparently as long as those waves are consistent of players who's salary is near the minimum. Lol

Thomas went undrafted out of Oklahoma last year. He played safety in college, but the Packers moved him to linebacker when they put him on their practice squad in November.

It looks like the move is paying off. Thomas is still probably a little small to be an every-down linebacker, but he is able to play in coverage.

“He’s an explosive athlete,” Pettine said. “I think that’s what you need in the National Football League to play defense. The movement skills and explosiveness trump the bulk size you’re looking for in the new era linebacker. You’re looking for guys who are hybrid safety types.”

Here's an article on our new practice squad LB Ahmad Thomas'

He is a converted safety:

Packers ILB Ahmad Thomas impressing early at training camp

Defensive coordinator Mike Pettine said Thomas is “flashing” in coverage, something coach Mike McCarthy echoed Thursday.

“I think he’s done a lot of good things. He definitely has the coverage ability, particularly at the WILL spot that we’re looking for,” McCarthy said...

...The Packers have given Thomas first-team reps in the nickel defense since losing Ryan to a torn ACL during Monday’s practice. His coverage ability stood out last week when he broke up a fourth-down pass from Brett Hundley during a live team period.

Thomas (6-0, 220) went undrafted out of Oklahoma in 2017. He played in 51 games and made 39 starts at safety for the Sooners, tallying 223 tackles.

His lack of speed (4.68 at Oklahoma’s pro day) likely necessitated a move to linebacker. But he isn’t particularly big, either, so any contributions he makes for the Packers in 2018 will likely come as a subpackage coverage option.

Ryan, a more traditional inside linebacker in terms of size and play style, excelled on early downs against the run, making Thomas a tricky fit as a replacement...
