I don't know them enough to give informed opinion. I liked Holton Hill a lot in the draft... how has he been? Roc Thomas could be a RB claim for some RB deprived team

You need a WR? The Vikes released Tavares King, WR. He played for the Giants last year.

I guess Minnesota was done with Jones since they could have held onto him through his PED suspension

He had to be cut. He was a practice squad player who was recently charged with domestic violence. In addition, he and his brother Zay Jones of the Buffalo Bills were in the news a few months ago for some other issue. We don't need that distraction.

Agreed

But they could have waited since he will not count against the 53

Sorry @NFLfan, I'm hoping we can steal Chad Beebe from the Vikes (if they do waive him), then stash him on our Practice Squad after a week on the 53 man roster. He could be a great Wes Welker type guy for us down the road.

To me, this is where I will determine the Pro Personnel departments strengths/abilities.  Helping Ballard claim some better talent than we currently have for depth. We have a good claim position, let's work it.

Vikes fans hope we keep Chad Beebe. I think we may. May I interest you in trading for Brandon Zylstra or Stacey Coley?

I know what you're saying, but there is no sense in keeping an unwanted player. I liked him as a receiver but he came with too much baggage.

Oh wow! Korey Robertson too? I forgot how many of my personal favorites you guys got this year. No idea how he's played in pre-season but I loved him coming out of college... I think the Colts had serious interest in him in the draft too... had multiple interviews with the Colts if I'm not mistaken.

Robertson did not play much at all. I don't think I saw him once. We played a lot of Chad Beebe, Jeff Badet, and Jake Weineke as well as Laquan Treadwell. Maybe the Colts will sign Robertson. I'd like that for him.

Your other favorite was Hercules Mata'afa (spelling?). He got injured early in OTAs or minicamp and is on IR.

LOL, no trades.  We'll just claim guys we are looking at  when they hit the waiver wire.  :)

Lol. Makes sense. I would think that the Giants, who would have first cracks at waiver wire guys, would claim players from the Vikings, given that Shurmur is familiar with most of the players. This off-season, he claimed a player that I had hoped we would keep on our 90 man roster, TE Kyle Carter.

True, but it depends on what Tom Couglin the 2nd (Shurmur looks much like him in that hat on the sidelines, and a red face at times!!) feels he has on his roster.  I predict they win the division, Colts need a lot more.

 Say it ain't so! Ugh. Will miss B-Rob and all he brought to us. I'm not happy about this.

Beebe cut too??? Ya know the Pats will try to sign him. Hope @ColtsBlueFL nabs him for the Colts.

Working the phones to the Pro Player director now... get out the tape!!  Show them to CB and FR ASAP!!

Btw, Holton Hill did make the team as did former Colts DT David Parry. The latter was a surprise. I believe that you liked running backs Roc Thomas and/or Mike Boone. They both made the team, but we (fans) suspect the Vikes might look to trade Roc.

Terence Newman retired and joined the Vikings coaching staff.

The guys have to be an improvement, a scheme fit, and know enough playbook verbiage to get the nuances of the playbook down fast in order to get on the 53 man roster over a guy that survived the cuts and already knows the playbook and the installs.  Rogers and the scouts have their work cut out to convince CB and FR of making bottom of the roster changes.  But I expect they can, and will.

I have a feeling some of the assistants will be brought in too

    • My SB pick (just AFC rep vs NFC rep) on DraftKings, from before the season started, is different than the two I mentioned above for the thread starter. If I reveal it here, it won't happen, like Dr. Strange with his 1 possibility.    I will reveal it before the SB, whether it happens or not.
    • I don't find it surprising either. I think the poll doesn't mean that the Colts front office is bad, but it does mean that other NFL executives and coaches don't view the Colts front office as better than average. That's what I think the Colts front office is -- average, and winning should be the key measure. The team has been, on the whole, average during Ballard's tenure. It is an exactly average team so far this season, 2-2, 85 points scored, 85 points allowed.    I'd like the Colts front office and the team to be considerably better than average. That seems obvious. You can talk about a wide variety of reasons that the Colts aren't among the consistent winners all you want, but it's Ballard's job to make them a consistent winner, and eight years in, he's not getting it done.    Yet, we have threads like this one that are intended to bash the "Forum GMs" who are critical of the front office and the team. Apparently, because EJ Speed and some of the other Colts are at least average-ish players. WTH? Shouldn't we expect more than that?
    • A realist would say jags stink? 😁   In "Real Time" observations with real time outcomes are what make my takes on this situation a Realist point of view.   Come on. You may want to not give up on this player yet. You make think my trading him is an overreaction. Actually, I agree with you about my assessment of trading him. It is an overreaction to want to trade him so early because I so want him to be our franchise, but it stems from not wanting to get hosed in the backend for not acting upon what seems clearly obvious at this point. The obvious being that this kid doesn't look like he is going to be able to ever give an NFL team a full complete and consistent season for whatever reason and yes, that is what we all have seen in 9 games including you. Do you need 10 games? How about 17 as the Panthers did with young. How many games are too many to wait until we make a move because by then it might be too late. You stated 3 years. That's a long time considering how many years this team has been struggling now.   I truly hope I'm wrong about this guy. I will be the first to eat major crow if I am. All I know is when anyone gets compared to Cam Newton you run a gazillion miles in the opposite direction and our BrainTrust decided to sink their own ship based on what "could be" in terms of his talent when they already knew what it could be and that was Cam Newton and Cam Newton was a terrible QB. Nuff said.
    • I’m going with the odds. AR has ability beyond anything the league has really seen before. Still, QBs fail way more than they succeed. AR is super raw and unpolished so needs a lot of playing time to see if he will develop.   Unfortunately that takes time to figure out.  I doubted he would succeed when we drafted him and I see nothing yet that has changed my mind. The organization and staff are behind him and will give AR every chance to become a franchise QB. I hope it all works out but I strongly doubt it.
