Chargers @ Broncos Thursday Night Football Game Thread

Calls are part of the game and Phil Simms extrapolates. Its quite obvious he hates Denver.

 

If all these calls are reversed, Denver still wins. They were in a clock killing mode for the entire fourth quarter.

 

Embrace for the Nov 2nd my friend. I hope the wind is at 50 miles in NE that day. If not with Chandler Jones missing, Manning is going to carve up NE. He is battle ready after facing defenses likes Seattle, SF, Cardinals, Colts and Chargers.

if you flip the hold call/int and non PI on Talib around, SD has the ball on the 3 yard line trailing by 7 points late in the 4th qtr . . . and very much different scenario than what existed after the pick by the Denver ;)  . . . you can spin it anyway you want but that is the reality of just those two refs call/non calls . . . a completely different game that what ends up looking like a Denver spank down . . .  

 

we will see what happens in two Sundays . . . Denver has been fortunate in that they have faced teams with injuries on the other side of the ball, Charles going out during the game with KC, SF and SD both missing key defenders, Ariz I believe had their string QB in the game and so on . . .

 

Last year we were down both Mayo and Wilfolk this year we are down both Mayo and Jones . . . we were able to win last year and we will see what happens in two Sundays . . .it should be a good game . .  .

Hmm....didn't the Pats offer something to Sanders before the Steelers matched as a restricted free agent offer before he became a free agent this off season? Basically, they were willing to sign him then. Just saying.

But the Randy Moss and Wes Welker signings disprove your "The Pats never draft or sign good WRs" statement. The Pats thought they could get Sanders on the cheap but were badly mistaken, I felt.

2007 was the only year they went all out on WRs and Welker is not an outside guy. That is where they have failed the last 13 years - on the outside. Branch and Givens were the last two receivers they drafted and developed back in 2002.

funny how the refs missed Talib pinning the WR's arm and is why you only see one arm up in the air . ..I thought that was PI . . . funny how the calls are going this night . . . had the WR had both arms in the air like normal maybe there is no INT . . .

 

Talib knows how to get away with that stuff. So does Revis, Sherman, etc-etc. That's part of what makes them good!

With the Patriots looking much more solid against the pass than the run, I'm wondering if Denver will just pound away on the ground.

It seems like every other team gets called for them, yet Denver does it literally on every single play (Welker is the worst offender) and boom, open receiver again, 'Great job Peyton!'.

, you're absolutely right... the area where the lighthouse is located is like a wind tunnel. 

 

In hindsight I think they really pooched the entire design of Gillette. It was built and opened in 2002, so it'll be here for a while, but the next time they rebuild, I'm hoping to see a more closed-in concept. Not only will that help with wind, but it'll make the stadium a whole lot louder. After the first month or two of the season, fans are trying to clap and cheer with big bulky mittens and yelling as loudly as they can in the cold, dry air, but the home-field-advantage the Patriots get isn't great in terms of crowd noise.

That comment is total bull****  Rivers is intense, he's passionate, but he never "melts down"  It's how he's built and everyone that knows him, coaches him and plays with him totally respects his passion.  Be careful judging what you don't have a clue about it shows a great deal of ignorance.    

 

I have watched every single game he's ever played - last night was as intense as I've ever seen him.  The frustration was a passion to win the game, his passion kept his team and the players around him fired up and believing they could go after it.  Even while playing with 1/2 the starting D, the 4th & 5th string running backs and about 1/2 the original starting O Line (and I mention that as a reality - but you won't hear Rivers do so).  

 

He never complains, makes excuses or does anything but try to figure out a way to win the next game and keep his team in the picture.

 

No great QB is content to calmly let a game slip away.

No message, no hidden motive...just an observation about Peyton-run offenses that has clearly carried over from his days on the Colts. Hey, if it isnt called, why stop? I just always find myself watching these games and wondering why they seemingly never get called for it.

I would totally agree. Meltdown was the furthest thing in my mind. But hey some people hate him like they hate Brady and...well the list goes on:)

 

I thought he played great and a D that was pretty depleted in the backfield. Denver's offense is just something else.
