Deone Bucannon

I'm interested to see what you guys think of him. I've started liking him more than some of the other safeties in our range. He has good size. He's a hard hitter. He has good range, and most importantly he's possesses good ball skills. He had six interceptions last year. Thoughts?

Personally as far as the draft goes Im not worried about need, I want the BPA regardless of need, If need and BPA happen to line up at some point then great, I also want a defense that is versatile and that means getting a variety of different players with different talents and for the coaching staff to put those players in the best chance to succeed but instead I think we will try to stick to a rigid scheme fit type of player which limits options

As long as he can cover some ground

He can but he is inconsistent with open field tackling(what I call a ankle diver to much), sometimes takes bad angles and is incosistent to shed blocks(I watched him vs Stanford, Oregon and Arizona  State)

I remember a GM saying if you draft for need you'll be forever drafting but if you draft BPA you'll have someone

I prefer BPA 'by need' as you know....not including center, however.

We will know what said need is after FAs begin to sign.  If I bring in a receiver, I willl not go BPA for another WR...and so on.  Lets get the beat player available by need after FA.   :coltshelmet:  :coltshelmet:  :coltshelmet:  :coltslogo:  :coltslogo:  :coltslogo: !!!

Tackling can be coached though. A lot of these DB's aren't coach as well in college anymore as Prime was saying at the combine. So many of the CB's are as raw as the WR's that come out. Tons of athleticism and natural skill, but a lack of refinement. Deone has been on my radar for awhile. I'm on the fence on whether I would take him in the second, depening on need and who's off the board. I would definitely take him in the third though.

    • Chad wasnt going to be the franchise savior but we should have started him over Jacoby when he was hurt and played awful
    • If there’s one certainty about the WR corps after this camp, it’s that the new guy doesn’t skip leg day!
    • I don't know how I missed this thread. Matt Ryan won a League MVP and beat Rodgers for the NFC Championship, Foles played fantastic in a SB and beat Tom Brady to get a Ring. Am I missing something about the 'Great' Chad Kelly?
    • I think bringing in competition at QB3 is very valid   We have another vet QB coming in to back up QB1    I’m hoping we can get a future QB2 from the draft or UDFA (maybe this year)
    • They were making lucky 3's all night. Divincenzo was shooting like Larry Bird. You know what I say, 1 lucky 3 (by them and they had several), deserves another (by us). If we get Game 4 we will win the series because our depth will continue to wear them down. Haliburton outplayed Brunson last night scoring 35, Brunson is getting tired, and they only go 7 deep and OG is out for the series it looks like, we go 10 deep. I don't see Divincenzo shooting like that again either.   As long as the REFS call it fairly, we have a chance. When Nembhard made that 3, Doris Burke sounded like she was hating life. She said in a low voice "so the tide is turning". Everyone outside of INDY wants NY to win because they are a big market, it is comical.    Pacers have now won 15 straight at home and are 4-0 in the Playoffs. What did everyone expect, that NY was just going waltz in here and take our lunch money. Not happening on our turf.
