Jumbo/Power sets?

I don't recall seeing any of those formations vs Chiefs yesterday, even in the 1st quarter when the game was close. All Donald Brown's runs was from the shotgun. Don't know if Pep totally ditched those formations or what.

I knew we wouldn't run any of those formations in the 2nd half given the circumstances.

Just wondering if somebody's memory is better than mines right now because I dont recall seeing any Jumbo sets with Link or Nixon etc in the game.

If I'm right I think it was Pep's plan all along going by the 1st quarter to ditch those power/jumbo sets. But Pep really has transformed his vision with this offense since December.

I don't remember seeing any of them or very little.  I'd like to see some of them still used when it's appropriate.

I don't think our only effective running play can continue to be draws out of shotgun. On the other hand we do

get nice gains out of that formation quite a bit...

Only TWO teams can successfully execute a jumbo set

49ers

Seahawks

We didn't run them all game yesterday. Pep has realized putting the ball in #12's hands is what's best. Then sprinkle in a little "Brown" here & there to answer the famous "What can brown do for you?" question

Another factor yesterday is Satele played well. We've been bashing him for 2 years and it has been so frustrating watching him screw up and I really want to see him do well.  It is a hidden key for our offense, if our center, Satele or whomever plays well, our offense will play better.  He was even was lucky enough to have a fortunate bounce of that fumble off his helmet in Andrew's hand, you know if the Chiefs recovered it, more Satele bashing would occur.  There were NO highlights or replays of Satele missing a block or assignment and that's a good sign.  Keep it up through the playoffs.

If we had Thomas on the line and Allen at TE, we could likely run those better.

True. Allen sets the edge well but Fleener's run blocking is not his strong suit. I can remember hearing that tackle eligible Jumbo pkg many times at the Jags game and it did nothing. Thankful that we didn't try to use it last week. Maybe Pep did scrap it.

We phased out the jumbo sets and have been running primarily out of one-back sets.

We don't have the personnel to run a lot of the power stuff but by going spread, we have found a little space up the gut for Donald Brown to squirt through.

Good move by Pep to work with what you have.
