Te'o odds of falling to colts

Recommended Posts

What did people see this past Monday to actually still want Teo? You can say it is overreaction to one game, but that was the most NFL talent across the board Teo had seen at one time and he did not adjust. At all.

You are right.  He didn't play well.  No one did on the defense.  Notre Dame was outplayed and out-coached. I still don't think the outcome would have been much different, but does anyone, besides me, hate the month wait before the National Championship?   I think it turned a game in which Notre Dame loses to a game Notre Dame gets crushed(the game we saw).

To repeat what a lot have said already, even if Teo had played well and he was still being heralded as the next coming at MLB, I still wouldn't want the Colts to take him because we simply do not need a MLB. The Colts actually have a good linebacker crew...

Debatable if we have a good linebacker crew, but for the most part I agree with that statement. I  We could upgrade, but I don't think Teo is an upgrade at this point.

and Teo is not needed in the least, especially when we have so many other glaring needs elsewhere.

Definitely agree.  This is probably the reason we pass if he falls to us.  I think (even using BPA) we go OL or DB.

I am not saying Teo is going to be a bust. However, I think it is a very real possibility he comes into the league and is just another average MLB. Nothing special.

This could very well be true.  Time will tell.  I still think he is selected round 1.

I didn't mean to pick apart you post, but you made a lot of good points I wanted to comment on.

Id be completely fine with taking Te'o if he drops to us. BUT...I would then want us to try our best to see what we could get for either Pat Angerer or Kavell Conner. Whomever has higher trade value, we trade them for draft picks.

But getting Te'o and Freeman to man the middle would make our LBs arguably the best in the league.

The colts would get next to nothing for angerer or conner

Considering Angerer has been injured most of the year yes, Conner is nothing special either but I think we would get our 5th rounder back for one of them, Im not against doing it but cant say for a fact I would

No offense taken. It sounds like we mostly agree anyway. On calling our linebackers "good," I honestly do think it is a good linebacker crew. It is by no means a great one. But I think (so long as his play wasn't a fluke this year and I don't think it was) that Freeman is an above average NFL linebacker, that Angerer can be an above average linebacker, and Conner is a solid backup. I would call that a "good" linebacking crew, granted we are just arguing over semantics at this point. And it is our strongest overall position on defense.

But like you seem to say, I don't think Teo boosts that 3 man rotation enough to warrant taking him in the 1st or even 2nd round (not that he will be around at that point). He is better than Conner, and maybe slightly better than Angerer, but the return value is not near enough to pass on taking either an OL or CB with that pick.

    • Marvin was intensly non - verbal here in Indy. That could be taken as aloof. lol Perhaps the first report after retirement of Marvin expressing himself was his allegedly shooting a gun on the mean streets of Philly.   Footwork, route running, speed, hands, reliability. Marvin, Our Willie May's.
    • Funny that Marvin Harrison was mentioned in the A Mitchell discussion . My family was from the Syracuse area and my first cousin was a teammate of Marvin Harrison.  M.H. had a few Sunday dinners at my cousin's home . To put it bluntly , Marvin had a very "unusual " personality . Very aloof among with things. Hopefully Mitchell will follow in his footsteps.
    • Agreed. I don't really care how his communication skills are as long as they don't negatively affect the team or his performance. I've never heard he was a bad teammate from his coaches or teammate, so that's good.
    • I think she will do fine or great.  I won't watch but it is good for the Fever and the WNBA.
    • I'm going to get over his ability to express himself as I see him being the best thing at his WR responsibilities since Marvin.   Yea, it's the optimist time of the offseason.  We're going toe to toe baby!    I'm catching a game a week of replays of last seasons big games, and a Colts game now and then. I hope AR watches a lot of them too. There is a way, a rhythm how the good QBs, the good offenses get it done.     One thing I see against good defenses is what a danger zone throwing across the middle is.   And we saw what a easy pitch and catch team our D is between the hash marks.
