Press Conference Is 2 Hours From Now

If he misses 5-6 weeks or more there is no point in even playing him this season. We'll be 0-? at that point and in quite the hole to realistically expect him to dig us out of.

Let him heal up fully and get some high draft picks - including Andrew Luck.

If there is a bright side to all of this, IF he sits the haters can finally shut up about who the best QB/MVP of the league is. Our other QB's will get ruined behind this O line, the D "may" win us a game or two, and special teams? lol!

predictions? I say they keep him shelved until Week 3 with the Steelers.

rumors are until november. yikes.

Well I hate to say this because I have been a fan for many years but I say keep him out until he can recover completely. Won't make many fans happy but why let him play and take a chance on ending his career. I myself would rather have a completely healthy Manning even if our year sucks. JMO of course but wouldn't all the fans feel awful if he played before being healed and ended up messed up for life. Please don't bash this because we all have our individual thoughts. :sorry:

how much you wanna bet they're gonna say it will be a last min call on game day?

Well what could you say until the other evaluations are done. I'm sure he will get the best evaluations available and then Peyton will have more answers as to why he isn't healing as he should be.

Colts release this statement

Indianapolis Colts Statement on Peyton Manning’s Status

In response to a number of media inquiries, the Colts issue the following update on Peyton Manning’s status.

During the last week, the rate of improvement in Peyton’s rehabilitation process slowed. Over the weekend Peyton experienced soreness in his back. It was originally thought to be a normal reaction to his rehabilitation regimen. When the soreness persisted, the Colts medical team decided to initiate diagnostic tests and to consult with a number of specialists around the country who have been involved in Peyton’s case from the outset. That process continues. As a result of the most recent development the doctors have decided that Peyton will not practice. His participation therefore, in Sunday’s game versus Houston will likely be doubtful. We will update his playing status as required by NFL policy as the week goes on.

At the conclusion of the diagnostic process, if there are any new developments in the prognosis which we outlined for Peyton at the start of training camp we will report them. As of now Peyton continues to deal with a complicated neurological recovery, the end date of which is unpredictable.

As was stated at the outset, it serves no useful purpose to speculate about hypothetical outcomes. When and if there are concrete medical facts to report we will do so.

We appreciate your consideration in this matter.

I personally still believe Peyton will have his hands under Jeff Saturdays butt come sunday. Although I think it will be a last min decision.

Colts.com has already addressed it. Hes out. Complications and back pain. Hes gonna go IR I bet. I don't expect to see him play this year. Quiet frankly I think maybe we have seen the last of Peyton Manning due to this latest issue. Not good folks.

OK. That is not what was said at all. Did you read what was said? May as well just chill and see what happens. Nothing anything the fans can do but hope he gets the treatment he needs to heal.

Oh come on. Hes out folks. Baring some miraculous recovery sparked by the heavens above, he's out. They are worried, as am I. Ask anyone who knows me and Im the Biggest P. Manning fan they know. I don't like it. But let's not sugar coat it. I have had neck issues in the same area same side, same problems as P. Manning. Took me a year to recover and I still have some pain occasionally. Time is the only thing that heals these injuries. Time.

without peyton, us running the ball wont be a surprise. everyone is going to stack the box and humiliate us. lots of getting pushed around in the backfield.

This is yet another downfall of the lockout. If we actually had a full off-season, I feel like Manning would have had this surgery early in the off-season and he could have worked with the Colts trainers. Instead, he pushed the surgery up for later in the summer, and now we are not sure when he is going to play. I'm just hoping this isn't the beginning of the end for the Manning era. I hadn't prepared myself for a terrible season. I was hoping I would have to wait 5 years before that would happen...

if they try to stop us running collins can go deep, we are not done, we can still compete

Don't you know jim that Manning is the only player on the team that would be playing in the NFL if it weren't for the Colts? The Colts team is made up of Manning and a bunch of guys who were lucky to play in college.

Okay sure, you could argue that the Colts starters, with Painter at QB, beat the Packer's starters in the 3rd preseason game but then the front office cut all the players that were responsible for that win.

The team should just do what the fans want and forfeit every game until Manning comes back because there is no chance they can win any games. :sarcasm:

If that is directed at me no I don't live on the crazy train and don't live in a fantasy world either. I just take facts as they are said and read nothing into them. I have gotten along quite well doing so. lol

How the heck have you managed that?

I know personally that one time I had a neck injury and I never played in the NFL after that. Couldn't play the violin either.

Sorry, I was referring to an earlier post where the guy equated his neck injury to Peytons. He then went on to say you live on a crazy train.

I think you are exactly right.......We were likely going to be 1-1 after 2 weeks anyway....and we can be 1-1 with Collins

If its anything else, he'll say so....

They're not going to hide it.......They want Collins to know its on him...He's an old pro.

......Its nobody's fault....Peyton's 35 years old...
