Finding the next Jerricho Cotchery or Austin Collie - Ryan Swope?

Recommended Posts

What do you guys think of Ryan Swope of Texas A & M if he is there in round 4? I think he would be great value like Austin Collie was in 2009. Sticky hands, great slot candidate, IMO. Bigger body for a possession wideout, which we suddenly have few of. Wayne is our best possession wideout and after him, it will have to be our TEs, everyone else is a speedster. Speedsters are good but when you run into teams with physical CBs, we need a bigger body or two.

Thoughts???

I'm sure Swope is a fine player,  but I'd only be interested in him if could find him in the 6th or 7th round, I and don't think that's going to happen.

I suspect we're going to go heavy for defense in the draft, and if we spend a pick on offense, it needs to be for an OL,  not a WR, and a possession WR at that.    Not unless it's a lower pick and he falls to us.     Otherwise.......

Chris Owusu

I'd like to see if A.Luck's college deep threat could improve our offense. He's suffered some injuries but seems to bounce back everytime. They've already got chemistry, so i hope we take a flyer on him after we're done signing some of the other free agents.

Bad news.....

Chris Owusu was a senior with Andrew Luck.      He went un-drafted.

But, he was signed as a FA by the 49ers.     However, when he was released, he was grabbed by Tampa Bay.   I believe he's still on their practice squad.

Chris is very fast.   But, he has several 'issues'....     first,  he got his clock cleaned in 3 straight games.   Two of them led to concussions, and it was a shock that the 3rd didn't as well.    Second,   while he's got 4.5 speed,  he's got 5.5 hands.    I don't think he'd be a good fit for the Colts.

And I say that as a long time Stanford fan.

Corey Fuller, WR, Virginia Tech 3rd Rd

6'2" 196 lbs 4.38 40-yard

http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Corey-Fuller-A-Different-Path-Taken.html "Although he only caught a handful of passes in the opener, he impressed with his sharp cutting ability to make tacklers miss running after the catch. For a player with limited experience playing college football, he consistently shows good initial quickness getting moving at the snap, is able to accelerate to full speed fast and has the speed to get separation on deep routes.

In that one game alone, Fuller put himself squarely on the list of players who could well rocket up draft boards in the next six months. He followed up his impressive debut against Georgia Tech by catching two passes against Austin Peay, but his real test will come as he goes against the better teams in Virginia Tech’s conference for the rest of 2012. If he continues to impress during the season he will likely get invited to the Senior Bowl because NFL teams will want to see him practice against the best talent. I believe that Fuller will stand out in Mobile at the Senior Bowl, if he gets invited, and then will blow up the Combine, which will lead to him being a high draft pick (Likely in the second round). His lack of playing experience, flashes of explosiveness and big play ability remind me of former NFL receiver Terry Glenn because Glenn did not really shine at Ohio State until his last season there..."
