Just because the players are beating the snot out of each other .....it doesn't mean this is a good sign that "they're hungry". It could also mean that they're immature and undisciplined.

Exactly, sounds like the coaches need to start exercising some control.

Hughes must have been whippin' up on Justice for him to get mad like. Something like that during a game could cost a win.

Just saying it can go either.

Looks like it was Hughes getting after Justices butt!

"In another reminder that the attitude has changed a bit from the days of Tony Dungy, two scraps Thursday raised eyebrows. Offensive right tackle Winston Justice evidently took exception to outside linebacker Jerry Hughes’ aggression."

........win streak. ...year after year....and I always enjoyed it when the nice guys beat the chest thumpers and smack talkers....I don't ever want the Colts to be like that...

Exactly. I want some fire and swag here in Indy. But I don't want it to come at the cost of class. We're known throughout the league as a classy organization and classy fans. I'd hate to see that change....(I'm lookin at you New Orleans)

I will say this; If anyone on the roster has reason to practice with over-the-top zealotry and aggression.....it's Jerry Hughes.

I love it. PAgano and Manusky need to build this colts defense to be one of the most feared defenses in the league like baltimore and pittsburgh. let Arians worry about the offense and building luck up (like he did with manning and rothlisberger) and i can see multiple superbowls coming to indy starting in 2014 or 2015.

as i said in another post, this years draft they focused on making luck comftorble and building up the offense which in my opinion was the best thing to do given we grabbed the two best TE's to come in a draft in awhile and they grabbed TY Hilton who i believe could be another wes welker or deshaun jackson, then the steal in the 6th round in getting RB ballard. next years draft they will more then likely be focusing strictly on defensive players and this is what i think should happen and there will be some disagreement but thats the fun of these discussions.

if they end up with a top 3 draft pick in next years draft they should flip the pick over to someone who wants in the top 3 and get multiple picks something like 1st round pick in next years draft, and 1st rounder in the 2014 draft then a 2nd and 3rd rounder in next years draft with a 3rd rounder in the 2014 draft. grab amerson in the draft next year trade a 2nd round pick to up into the first round and try to grab Honey Badger MAtheu also. thats two DB's in the same round who could be really good in the colts secondary. then use the other second rounder and grab Te'o if he falls into the second round which some analyst believe he will due to his lack of pass defense. and as a notre dame fan he does lack in that department but could be coached by manusky to be a better pass defender. you get those 3 guys and their defense should be that much better come the 2013 season. could be a playoff team but owuld only be a draft away from being super bowl contenders.

it could happen, but maybe not likely just a thought lol.

or grigson and pagano had justice start something to try to toughen the defense up. you gotta admit Dungy and Caldwell kept that defense soft. and they need some toughing up on that side of the ball. their not physical enough. and it hurts the defense.

I liked this line......

"At the risk of taking the company line, these things are bound to happen at some point, especially when there are so many young guys on a roster. It shows they are hungry. And it shows the veterans are going to try to put the pups in their place."

    • Link to article   This guy likes what how Ballard has built the Colts. The Colts are far from being mediocre. JMO
    • I almost spit my coffee out reading this a few times, lol!  I love sarcasm and I especially love it when there is some truth to it!  Well played Sir!
    • I guess the whole question is the merits of the report. You report on his diabetes with tons of guesses and speculations and WITHOUT taking the side of the person who's been affected here and who's living and dealing with that condition. You report on the player being uncoachable WITHOUT taking the opinion of his coaches about being coachable or not(and BTW from what I've heard both from Colts and Texas coaches, this is resoundingly NOT TRUE). You report about him being immature and honestly, everything I've seen on the surface suggests the opposite. You report about his combine performance by giving it a pretty harsh reading(the video is in this thread and the account of what happened by McGinn is in this thread... People can actually go and look at what happened and make their own mind about whether the characterization of that workout was fair or not. I will just say you can represent the player stumbling in a drill and going again in various different ways and McGinn chose a specific way to represent it. It was the most negative way you could choose).    You know I had my own reservations about that outburst by Ballard at the presser, but the more I'm learning about Mitchell the more I actually believe in what Ballard was saying and the less merit those reports have in my mind. Maybe I have my own unconscious biases too, now that I have vested interest in Mitchell actually being good for us. I don't know     I guess ultimately none of it matters. AD's success or failure won't depend on some pre-draft reports... it will depend on how he handles himself from now on, how hard he works, his drive to be great and our staff's ability to get the best of him.
