My 2013 Mock Draft and Colts First Five Picks (Just For Fun)

Recommended Posts

Just for fun as it stands now, obviously draft rankings and such will undoubtedly change many many times before next year, i would draft like this

1.David Amerson-Corner

2.Brandon Jenkins or Devin Taylor - 3-4 linebackers/defensive ends

3.Montee Ball-Running Back

4.Larry Wharford-Guard

5.Joe Vellano-3/4 defensive end

6.Devonte Hollman-Safety

7.Trey Hillard-Fullback

We wouldn't get a comp pick for Freeney until the 2014 draft if he isn't resigned after this season.

Thanks for pointing that out, Didnt catch that it was the following year we get a pick. So then will we be getting any picks for 2013?

As a U of T fan I would highly suggest we stay away from anyone on offense this year and rather focus on defensive players such as

Kenny Vaccaro SS

Jackson Jeffcoat OLB

Alex Okafor DE/OLB

Carrington Byndom CB

and a LB from Kansas State: Arthur Brown

then a couple years down the road we could get Jadeveon Clowney from South Carolina

Was that in the case that we have #1, if so here is mine. Trade down to #5 for 3 first rounders and 2 second rounders.

1a. David Amerson-CB

1b. Trade up with one of our second round picks back into first (Manti Te'o-ILB) or (Justin Hunter-WR)

2. Brandon Jenkins-DE/OLB

3. Jonathon Cooper-OG

4. Giovanni Bernard-RB

6.C.J. Barnett-S

7. Alec Lemon-WR

2013 NFL Draft - Indianapolis Colts : I'd be happy with any of these guys in the 1st Round depending where we pick.

1st Round

Top 10 scenario

Robert Woods WR USC - Amazing WR. The future #1 WR after Wayne hangs em' up.

David Amerson CB N.C. State - Great CB. Competition in ACC is average at best, but he'd be worth the pick.

Barkevious Mingo DE/OLB LSU - I like this pick only if Freeney doesn't work out or doesn't restructure.

D.J. Fluker OT Alabama - More protection for our franchise QB. Never a bad investment.

Trade down to 15-32 scenario

Manti Te'o ILB Notre Dame - Angerer and Te'o in the middle would be a ridiculous combo

Kawann Short DT/DE Purdue - I watch this guy in person every year. I've seen Purdue line him up at DT, NT and DE. If he loses a bit of weight, he could be our answer opposite Redding at DE. The man is an animal.

Xavier Rhodes CB Florida State - 2nd best CB in my opinion.

I would add Jarvis Jones to top ten pick, because he already has experience as a 3-4 OLB and is an amazing pass rusher.

Yeah, I agree he's a beast. I just tried to narrow it down a little bit, because i'm basically rattling off that any of the top 10 prospects that aren't QB's, will help our team. Just being a bit picky I suppose.

Did we get the No.1 pick because Luck broke his leg or quit football to design buildings

Why did we trade the No.1 overall pick???

Because a team would give a very large amount of picks for the #1 pick, so that they can pick a Barkley, Wilson, or Logan Thomas.

well because the vikings, browns, rams, jags, dolphins, chiefs aren't a better team then the colts.

Have you even seen the Chiefs roster? All they lack is a QB. Rams are better, Browns are better, Jags are equal, Phins and Vikes are worse. Top 5 is very realistic.

I say the Vikes are equal. Ponder may have a breakout year, AP should be healthy, and they upgraded their O-Line, Secondary, and Receiving Corp in the draft.

if AP is healthy, they're better, but I don't think he will be 100% if he plays.

Yea that's a great Mock Draft except one Thing/Player,don't you think the colts should go after Tyrann Mathieu we could def. use a player like that in a Position that we desperately need help in. and who wouldn't want 2 Heisman Finalist on one team. I think the colts should take him with there 1st pick (if he is available) but I've seen several mock drafts that have him going late 1st round. and if this season is a repeat from last season (I hope not) we might be in the driver seat to get him.

Four points

1.Reggie Bush is a Heisman Trophy Winner, he isnt doing anything worth mentioning now so clearly Heisman Trophies mean nothing in the NFL

2.Mathieu is a great talent but we dont deperately need a Safety, Zbykowski is more then capable of starting

3.We desperately need a Corner, we need one so bad Grigson was scrambling around in trading for a Corner (a depth guy by the way) also we signed an undrafted Corner and I bet Grigson is still scrambling around for another one (Mike Jenkins)

4.Freeney will be an unrestricted Free Agent after this year, if he dont workout then he likely wont be resigned which means we will need a true 3-4 Linebacker

Agreed, and to add on to #4, we need to find Freeney's replacement even if we do resign him.

I think we pick somewhere between 4-8 so the best case is that we take Jarvis Jones, taking David Amerson is next best but if he and Robert wood are both gone, Star Lotuleilei, Brakevious Mingo, and Manit T'eo are not bad if we pick at 8 or higher. Our Defence really needs some work.

My hopeful Picks would be David Amerson CB NCState in the top 10 if we finish there. Then i would hope we trade back into the first round and get Tyrann Mathieu CB LSU and pair those two, like we are doing this year with our TE's. Then would have the Depth Chart

1. Amerson

2. Powers

3. Mathieu

TM fits as a really good slot corner/rover type player as a third safety in certain packages and is a fantastic Blitzer off the ege, that could cause tons of havoc in the backfield under Pagano.

Would also really Love the LB from ND Te'o, would be our ray lewis/patrick willis type LB and could become leader of our Defense.

My Sleeper Pick is Ray Graham RB from Pitt.

Let me know what you guys think.

Good picks if we are in position to take them but I was thinking more along the lines of

1.Amerson

2.Brandon Jenkins or Devin Taylor

3.Chance Warmack, Alvin Bailey, Travis Frederick or Larry Warford and if by weird chance all of them are gone then Montee Ball

4.Brandon Mosley, Right Tackle

5.Baker Steinkuhler or Joe Vellano

6.Devonte Holloman

7.Kwame Geathers (although thats a bit of a stretch hes projected higher so maybe T.J. Barnes both are nose tackles

30: Green Bay Packers: Taylor Lewan, OT, Michigan

31: New England Patriots: Marcus Lattimore, RB, South Carolina

32: New York Giants: Tom Wort, MLB, Oklahoma

Colts first 5 picks:

Round 1: CB David Amerson: A 6-3 Corner that will make you think that he's a receiver with his ball skills. Very good speed for his size. Plays physical. Only knock is that he may need to work on his press coverage.

Round 2: OLB 6-3 Brandon Jenkins and WR 6-4 Justin Hunter (via trade)

Brandon Jenkins: A speed edge rusher who comes round the corner. He has many moves that he can use on opposing OT's. A very good athlete. Biggest knock is that he is not very physical at times.

Justin Hunter: A big, athletic target at 6-4, Hunter plays faster than his size. He is a physical receiver who will burn you downfield. In high school he was rated as the nation No. 3 long jumper, No. 7 high jumper, and the No. 14 triple jumper. Named CBS No.3 athletic freak in College Football. He will be coming of a torn ACL this year.

Round 3: OG 6-3 Jonathan Cooper: A good athlete at the point of attack, Jonathan Cooper is one of the best OG's in the country. He is both a very good run blocker and pass blocker. He paved the way for Giovanni Bernard, who had 1,253 yards and 13 TD's.

Round 4: 3-4 DE 6-8 Margus Hunt: A freak of nature. At 6-8 with an 82 inch wingspan, he has blocked 14 kicks in his 3 year college career. He will be a load for lineman to move even at the next level. Named CBS College Football "Athletic Freak". He is a junoir world champion at the shot put and discus throw. He has run a 4.7 40 yard dash and benched 225 lbs. 35 times. He has also vertical jumped 36 inches. He is a very raw player who may need developing, but could make a very good payoff.

I wouldn't trade with the bikes bec they aren't ready to give up on ponder maybe jax but they're in the division (side note jags will have no 1 pick)maybe with Raiders so they will overpay
