You're right. I was thinking about the older NYJ defenses, when Ryan was there. Does seem like the NYJ employ some smaller 3-4 OLB types, which the Colts don't really have. And curious how Grover would fit. They also have an elite LB duo, which the Colts don't have. And of course the other big difference is in the secondary...specifically having a CB like Sauce who can lock down one side of the field. I think it would take a multiple drafts and/or aggressive FA spending to get the personnel he needs. I would be all for it, but it would mean a pretty big rebuild.

If Ballard is gone, it likely means Richardson isn't working out. The main draw to Steichen was to develop a QB like Richardson; other than that, I'm not attached to Steichen at all. So if Ballard and Richardson go, Steichen can go as well. I'd be fine with Gus leaving right now, but there's not really anyone on the staff to take his place. Richard Smith is LBs coach and run game coordinator, and I think he's the only defensive assistant that has previous NFL coordinator experience. He also has Cato June under him as assistant LBs coach.

AR is just one concern. There are several that deserve immediate ownership attention. Maybe they are dialed in - only they know. -

I'm in the same boat... There have been a LOT of QBs come to the NFL with all the talent and potential in the world, but it just didnt work out for them in the NFL. Richardson has the arm and the size, even outstanding athleticism... but how many seasons are the owners/other players/coaches etc willing to be bad, while we wait and hope that he becomes a good player? The college game doesnt do the players or the NFL any favors these days....they USED TO develop players to get them ready for the NFL...now players are drafted on potential because they dont play in an NFL style system in college (QBs, offensive tackles etc) -
We were watching the World Series one year and the pitcher was being changed. My Mom was in her nineties, and she asked why they were taking him out. I said his arm is tired. She asked “why doesn’t he just throw with the other arm for a while and let his arm rest?” (I think Will Levis and Carson Wentz think like my Mom did????)
