Green Bay Game

I know, I know…so sue me for looking ahead.

I would never wish an injury on any player, and I would rather see us face a team at full strength.  But, this is the NFL, injuries happen, next man up, etc.

I’m curious if they stay with Willis or pick up someone like Tannehill or Winston.

If it bugs you to talk about it before the Texans game, no one is forcing you to comment.

He sprained his MCL and is expected to miss some time. We will see if they stick with Willis or go get a vet. Talk about a lucky break for the colts.

Sprained MCLs are usually a month to 6 weeks. Probably going to IR

That's a shame.  He was just coming into his own as a franchise QB late last season.  I hope he has a full recovery.

No way they stick with Willis lol

Maybe, but it's not easy to bring in a guy off the street and have him learn the playbook in less than a week.

A vet like Tannehill could be their best bet, with some packages for Willis.

So glad we got Flaaacoo.

Glad we got Flacco too! I saw something somewhere saying there are 7 or more teams out there that have a disastrous backup QB situation and If the QB1 gets severely injured the whole season goes up in smoke. Point and example the Jets.

Willis has not been there more than a week or so. They have to sign someone else.

The good news is if they sign tannehilll Colts know him well. I can’t believe they didn’t go out and make the backup QB position better.

You mean like us when Kerry Collins came in?

I wonder why they traded for him. Willis is not a starting NFL QB.

They didn’t acquire him to be a starting QB.

If he’s not good enough to step in for 3 or 4 games, then I agree they shouldn’t have traded for him and should’ve signed somebody like Tannehill or Siemian.

I’d be surprised if they don’t do that now.  The Packers have a shot at a very good season.  And it’s critical for them to try to limit the losses during Love’s absence.

Oh. I know. But he has to step in to be a starter now.

I think I would prefer Willis over Siemian. Siemian is not good. I believe Tannehill, Ridder, and maybe Winston are better.

I agree. It will not be easy. The NFC North teams have brutal schedules. Green Bay has the Colts, Tennessee and then the Vikings. Not too difficult. The Vikings have the 49ers, Texans, then GB the next three weeks after tomorrow.

    • It's like Ballard plays by his own  set of rules, as if he's smarter than everybody else, while  the rest of the NFl takes advantage of the rules ,like free agency. How over confident can a GM be by thinking he can build an entire team through the draft. Those years have been  long gone a long time ago. I dont think we have one starter on our team this year that hasn't been drafted by Balllard. We will watch teams continue to blow by us trying to build the Colts that way. Actually we have already seen teams blow by us. I understand the foundation maybe being through the draft but the entire team? It really is a huge Ego and arrogance to believe you can build a winner that way. After 8 years, still the best player on our defense wasn't drafted by Ballard. You would think he would get it by now. After 8 years , the best QB, WR and TE we've had on this team, wasn't drafted by Ballard........I'll give him JT at RB. The guy is just too stubborn to get out of his own way and it's getting to the point that Irsay may be the real problem if he continues to employ this clown. I'll give it to Ballard though, he's a slick dude because as long as he continues to use the draft to fill out the starters on this team, and always ask for patience because we're young, it's a built in excuse to keep himself employed.
    • I can't explain it either, but this forum has made the same observations when Frank was the HC too, about the nonusage of JT.  I don't think it means the coaches are dumb.  It means its either something about JT or modern coaches using analytics and tendencies in their decision making.   I'd have to say that the coaches must think that what was causing the 9YPC was taken away by GB.  The other side adjusts too.  People are assuming it would have kept going, so just leave JT in and we'll get 9 YPC in perpetuity, but coaches understand what other teams are doing real time.   I also think that coaches see RBs as interchangeable.  The entire NFL devalues them as being anything special, so maybe SS simply doesn't think there is much difference between JT and the others, especially if GB made a critical adjustment to alignments or similar things to take something away that they were giving up for 3Qs..
    • Agree Taylor was the best thing we had going.  And we know he can break a long run at any moment.  Teams have to account for him every time he’s in.  He’s even gotten a lot better in receiving.  So instead of Taylor you are hoping AR can get the job done.  He has a hard time hitting the broad side of a barn on the short to intermediate routes.  We weren’t down two or three scores and had to abandon the run.  It was a close game.  Sitting him was crazy.  This is where gambling makes me nervous.  The league has welcomed it and it’s everywhere.  We don’t know these players or coaches at all.  Who they are or who their friends are.  We only see them on tv.  They all look like upstanding individuals until they aren’t.  Sports is really crazy now.  Nothing would surprise me anymore.  When I hear our coach try to explain his rationale on Taylor it makes no sense.  No sense at all.
    • I wonder if they go 2-6 or worse they’ll bench him. Seems like his coach is starting to lose patience with him. Cost them 2 games.
