Oh trust me I know this is a bit out of left field for them.This is the issue right now. The Saints roster is good enough that picking top 10 and having a shot at a decent QB prospect is unlikely anytime soon. With the Cap issues still looming for them, not having a ton of picks this year, and a fairly solid roster overall I thought it was the right time to pull the trigger on a future asset. Plan being to roll with what we have this year and get ahead of the roster purge that is almost inevitable within the next two years.

An alternative could be the Cardinals offering the 27th and the 35th (680+550=1230 points) for the Colts' 15th and 82nd (1050+180=1230 points)

It's not enough points - 500+200+30.6 = 730.6. The 15th is worth 1050.
