Philip Rivers had 227 passing yards against the Ravens, leaving him only 4 shy of passing Dan Marino for #5 all time in NFL history, a feat he'll probably achieve on his 1st completed pass on Thursday.

I sort of dislike the total yards measurement now that the modern QBs have so many rules advantages that lead to more yards during a season not to mention more longevity playing.  Not really a big deal or anything just something that has always irked me.

 

I'm also not a fan of the Super Bowl argument either because that minimizes the importance of the other guys around the QB which to me doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

 

QB is a crazy position though.  So many other elements influence the end result that they end up with more blame and accolades than they deserve I think.  But it does make for great bar conversations.

Looks like statistically Peyton will always be 3rd in Yards and TD's. Can't see anyone playing now passing him in either that is behind him. Nobody else is close.

What is funny is I posted yesterday we could go 11-5 with the schedule we have. I still say 10-6 but 11-5 is realistic. Texans are missing 2 huge players the rest of the year in Fuller and Roby, we will beat the Jags as well and the Raiders look bad this past Sunday. Who knows?

It's also the 29th time he's faced the Raiders, he's currently 18-10 against them, the majority of those losses coming within the last 5 seasons. He already has the most wins against that franchise of any opposing quarterback, and hopefully he can add to that impressive total today.

Yeah.  Pittman is playing like a rookie.  He makes plays to show you the flash and what’s to come but he makes a lot of rookie mistakes too if you watch him over the course of a game.  That’s okay because he’s a rookie and that’s how rookies learn.  They tend to be a bit inconsistent and he has been but I am not worried about him.  I am excited about him for the future.

 

Pascal is solid.  He’s going to have a game like today maybe once a season where he’s the star WR but most of the time he’s going to have two or three catches that go largely unnoticed but are really key when you watch tape back.  He also does the little things like block.  He’s a guy you want on your team. 
 

Hilton looks to finally be on the same page as Rivers and I think is making a late season bid to the Colts for a one or two year deal.

Same opponent & stadium (although I think we bring Philip back next year) but that 62-7 beatdown that the Jags laid on the Dolphins was a postseason game - I'm not positive, but I think some Miami players recorded a rap song before the playoffs because I vaguely remember sportscasters mockingly playing clips of the song along with "highlights" of the beating!

As much as I hope he comes back to give us one more year for a rookie to sit or see what Eason has it might be a good thing if he retires on his own.  I don’t want Wentz but I would be ok with it if he decides to retire. It kind of forces the colts to start the clock on the future. Whether that be Eason, draft pick, or someone like Wentz. I don’t think Darnold will be available. This is why it sucks we didn’t address LT last season. If he retires we are forced to address both. I would also be ok with Stafford if he retires on his own. But maybe this is how the we finally get the future at QB started.
