Brees comparison to Peyton

Peyton Manning 5 mvp ( could have been 7 ) . Brees zero mvp. That alone should end the discussion.  Can anyone look up how many meaningless td passes brees threw like when his team was down by 21 with 5 seconds to go.   And how many times peyton was held out after 1 series on the last game, or when he came out after such a big lead even in the 3rd quarter. Where as brees would stay in the game until the end.  Peyton easily could have had 25 more td passes had he played all the way through.  And had brees come out like most qb should have would have about 25 less.

Why post this today? The comparison didn’t even stick on First Take weeks ago, let alone here (there was a thread about it). Now obviously today happened. Meanwhile he wasn’t even in the alltime top 100. Those lists have been more accurate than I thought they would.

I just posted this in the game thread but it is better suited here:

A lot of the articles I have seen on today's game say something like "Drew Brees has once again fallen short in the playoffs...".
Manning took criticism for losing in the playoffs too, of course, but he also made the playoffs every year carrying sub-par rosters while Brees hasn't.

Brady is the LOAT  the luckiest of all time.  Brady missed a season patriots went 11-5 . Manning missed a season colts went 2-14.  Brady suspended patriots go 3-1.  Manning retires the Broncos dont even make the playoffs.  Aaron Rodgers hurt the packers are terrible. Andrew luck is hurt / retires the Colts are terrible.  Brees gets hurt the saints go 5-0 .  Both brees and Brady are very overrated

So when was it that Brees screwed your wife?   Must be something like that in order to be so down on him.   I think Manning is the best QB I've ever seen, but I also like Brees.   I haven't witnessed this padding of the stats to the extreme like you have.

The Saints win the game yesterday if 1 of the other 2 quarterbacks on the team play to lol he’s more overrated than young Brady, Cousins before yesterday and Joe Flacco in a contract year combined. Blamed the fumble on 1 of his teammates did anybody see that.

Payton had/has Brees in a different offense in a different era to the Manning Colts. They have had very poor defenses so Payton/Brees were always aggressive. Brees would be forced to come from behind by throwing the ball downfield which certainly elevated his stats. The Colts would stubbornly run the ball at time and PM would be out of games during the 4th quarter quite often when the team was at its peak. Even so, Manning had more TD's per game.

Manning, with his physical abilities diminished, also had some crazy numbers in Denver, showing how much the league has changed since the 00's.

In Baltimore we had Vinny Testaverde, Scott Mitchell, Stoney Case, Tony Banks, Scott Mitchell, Kyle Boller, Trent Dilfer, Anthony Wright, Joe Flacco, and a few guys I forgot.
Before that I was watching Unitas and Bert Jones, although I did have to put up with Marty Domres, Art Schlichter, and Mike Pagel. My point is, when you have a great QB like Manning or Brees, enjoy it.

    • I just knew there was going to be a run on WRs later in the first.   welp, hoping we trade up for either AD (character concerns and all) or Troy Franklin.   there is no way we can leave this draft not drafting some type of burner in this deep WR draft.     Welp, can’t be too mad.  We can’t pick ‘em all and I’m ok with who we picked.
    • I haven't paid much attention to the draft and looking OR making mocks 'cause with Ballard you usually will be disappointed...... like most on this Forum are tonight. Lol   But I wasn't surprised by a defensive linemen being picked. I didn't think he would go CB or trade up for a elite receiver or Bowers would fall to 15. And honestly I know noting about Latu  except a few highlights I seen switching from the draft and Yankee game.  I liked the highlights but not crazy about the conference he played in and  his medical history.   I was hoping for Bowers but not surprised he's not a colt especially when Denver chose the last QB and the raiders were right behind them. I heard the raiders liked Bowers and with no QB left to possibly sway them I had a feeling they would grab him. We all know it was unlikely Ballard would trade up for him(even if he had him high on his board?)   Kudos for the bears getting a great prospect, I hope they don't mess him up.  And to the Patriots for getting imo the second best QB. The Falcons getting Pence for life after Cousins(which may be sooner than later) I think was a good move.
    • I mean, i kinda ma because in year 4 Trey had 13.5 sacks and probably way more pressures than paye has had in year 4.  Paye has one more year to show he can be the pass rusher we need.     and only reason why Trey was being compared to Paye is because someone else brought him.  There is honestly no comparison when it comes to their year 4s
    • 5 best remaining WR’s according to PFF   WR ADONAI MITCHELL, TEXAS. Mitchell's fluidity and size make him a tough matchup for anyone, especially in the red zone. ...  WR TROY FRANKLIN, OREGON. ...  WR LADD MCCONKEY, GEORGIA. ...  WR KEON COLEMAN, FLORIDA STATE. ...  WR ROMAN WILSON, MICHIGAN.
    • Falcons probably drafted Penix because they liked him, more than most other players because of the importance of QB position as well.   Note that They didn't draft JJ McCarthy so it shows Falcons staff definitely had their preference, inclination and liking to his QB play more than anyone else.   I think the thumb rule is if a team likes a QB very much, there are chances it won't happen again sooner in future, and even if they like few QBs in near future they may not be in position to draft the players they love.   So, general rule is always draft a QB if you like and when you can - same with Lions last year, and I hope Vikings did the same this draft.
