The best assistant coaches are former head coaches. They just want to coach and aren’t trying to get ahead and further their careers in most cases. I have been both and agree with Pagano. When you are young you can’t wait to run your own program.  Once you’ve been a HC you can add to a program immensely because you know what the HC needs done and you just do it. You also can say your opinion and move on. Not personal at all.

Happy to have Drew Lewis on board.  I didn’t see us drafting LBs high this year (boy, was I wrong), but Drew was 2nd only to Ulysses Gilbert on my late-round LB list.  Great workout, and he fits the system perfectly.

I read a interesting note on Kevin Bowen’s article yesterday about Houston helping Cain with something. I thought that was interesting since they are not on the same side of the ball.
