Superbowl proved that once again defense wins the championships

Peyton needs to get with his agent and the Broncos organization and say "Listen, I'll take less money if you give me a great defense, better defensive coaching, and a great run game. The haters and trolls will claim Manning 'choked' in another big game, but this Superbowl proved that once again defense wins the championships. The guys up front came up big for Seattle and forced huge turnovers. One of the best offensive attacks we've ever seen may get you to the big dance, but it won't win it without great defensive play and a run game. The Broncos are doing what the Colts did. Putting all their chips into Peyton Manning because they're giving him all the money. Elway should know better. He couldn't get it done until the defense stepped up and the T. Davis came along. Manning has one ring because he defense and run game finally gave him some help in the post season...

It will be no different for you Bronco fans. All that passing and records is great, but you need to be able to run the football and play defense in these games.

That said, I'm a Colts fan. I feel next year Luck will begin to take this league by storm. If we can make some good offseason moves with the draft and some key trades, we can dominate the AFC. Brady and Manning had their time. Out of all the young QB's Luck clearly has the largest upside. Though, like Manning, he won't win the championships without some help. No QB ever will

The Colts have a small window until Luck will get paid like Manning. Seattle already has a Super Bowl winning quarterback chosen behind Luck and RG3 in the same draft , who has the total team package. Indy could well be the AFC favorite next year , but to get to the top , the defense has to get way better, or it's more of the same.

But that is the exact opposite of what Manning wanted.  He wanted to be surrounded by a stellar offensive line and a plethora of offensive weapons so that he could continue to break records and put up phenomenal regular season statistics.  That is why he chose Denver, because Elway promised him every toy he could possibly want for Christmas and he liked the idea of that.

Peyton loved scoring all those touchdowns with his elite offense all year long, but of course when it came time to play for the most important achievement in this TEAM sport, a Super Bowl Championship, he had the worst passer rating of a QB since Rex Grossman.

He has no excuses as far as his performance, he was surrounded with the most talented offense in NFL history and they only managed to score 8 points.  He would have been under 50 yards in the first half of the game if not for all of those screen passes to WR's and RBs that he started throwing to rack up some yards.

It was an abysmal performance by their offense and just goes to show that offense is all about regular season stats and defense is all about winning championships.  Everybody wanted to crown Manning as the GOAT and all that because he was putting up crazy stats and points against some really weak defensive opponents all year long, you would have thought he could walk on water with what you were reading around here.

The entire Broncos team takes the blame for that, but hopefully this will help humble some of these Manning worshippers that act like he's the second coming and is the epitome of perfection, because he was anything but perfect in that game.

Its pretty ironic though that people are posting now about how he needs to be surrounded by a defense.  He WANTED a stellar offense and that is what he got!  You can't have your cake and eat it too, you need a balanced TEAM to win Championships.  Nobody was complaining about his defense when he was destroying teams and breaking offensive records... They just wanted to point out how he was the "GOAT" because he was surrounded by an insane amount of talented TEAMMATES and was able to break offensive records with them.  While he was breaking those records he was the greatest thing since sliced bread, could walk on water and cure any illness just by touch... then they lose the Super Bowl and its "The broncos need to surround him with a defense!"   Well if you surround him with a defense, that means he loses pieces on offense and doesn't break all those records....  and we know how import those are to some people around here.

The results were him breaking the points, TD and yardage record, getting his precious 5th MVP and coming up short of a Championship.  Can't stack a team all on offense and put up dazzling numbers that everyone "Ooooo"'s and "Awww"s at and expect the defense to be formidable as well.  It just doesn't work like that.. You want to see big numbers on the score board in the regular season, then stack the offense and break records all day long to your little heart's content.. if you want to compete for a Super Bowl, then you have to spread the wealth out and be balanced in all phases of the game.

Also, the Denver D didn't play all that bad in the first half, they completely shut down Lynch and the Seattle ground game.  The Denver offense left them in some horrible situations.. They didn't even have a 1st down until like mid way through the 2nd quarter.  It was a whole bunch of 3 and outs, turnovers and a safety to start the game.  No defense, not even Seattle's defense, can overcome that.

You have to tip your hat to the Seahawks, they won convincingly and proved that they were the best team in the league this year and are the Champs.  The Broncos have to go back to the drawing board like everyone else and figure out what went wrong.  Manning also has to decide how import his personal accomplishments and statistics are to him compared to his team's goals and accomplishments.

Hopefully people around here who have been talking non stop about him are humbled a bit as well and come back down to earth with the rest of us.  Manning performed poorly in the Super Bowl and only managed 8 points while quarterbacking the "Greatest offense in NFL history".   I don't think its a "choke" or anything like that, but its just a reminder that its VERY HARD to win a Super Bowl and on any given Sunday, anything can happen.

Its also a reminder that EVERYTHING is a team accomplishment.  Manning doesn't break that touchdown record with a bunch of scrubs.  If you stuck him into the Patriot's offense this year with their O-line issues, their 2 best young studs on offense gone and 3 rookie WRs, he wouldn't have come close to his production this year.   Its not all Peyton Manning, he had a tremendous cast of talent around him to reach those numbers..but unfortunately for their TEAM, they couldn't get it done when it mattered the most.

I'm sure Manning and the Broncos are going to regroup and come back next year and be right back in the thick of things.  They're a very talented team and Manning is one of the best to ever play the game, but there are other good teams out there too that want to win just as badly, if not moreso than them.

It is hard to win a Super Bowl, that is what makes it such an amazing accomplishment when you succeed.

Where do you come up with this "He wanted to be surrounded by a stellar offensive line and a plethora of offensive weapons so that he could continue to break records and put up phenomenal regular season statistics" nonsense?  One of the primary reasons he selected Denver was because the defense had been good enough to carry Tebow.  Adding an improved passing offense to that defense should have made a very good ball team

You can say  Manning played poorly in this one ball game but acting like the only  reason he chose Denver is because of some imaginary ego trip in pursuit of records is ridiculous

It is not that simple. As far as Manning plays, with his "system" it will never be a run-based offense and it will still fall onto his shoulder. Then again the team will play like his bunch of weapons instead of a well organized group of soldiers. It will always be Manning VS the world, no matter he takes paycut or not.

Re: Tom Brady 07

I'm sure you were there in the meetings with john elway to hear Peyton say gee john I ain't gonna play here without Wes welker ( who is the only "toy" they have even added to the offense besides the emergence of I drafted Julius Thomas

Denver had a promising defense that took tebow to a playoff win. They lost some key pieces there. They drafted Sylvester Williams in the first round! Doesn't sound like Peyton circled every toy in the ad like your long work of eye bleeding fiction.

Also what game did you watch dude? Seattle sniffed out all Denver's screens and little crossing routes they did real well. No receivers were racking up yac worth a crap.

You guys act like you aren't trolls and hypocrites and baiters but you know you wouldn't type out such an assumed work of fiction about Brady being that he hasn't won a ring without a great defense either!
