  1. 1. If the Colts only signed 1 higher priced FA, who would you want?

    • FS Jarius Byrd (Approx 10 mil per year)
      13
    • C Alex Mack (Approx 9 mil per year)
      38
    • OLB Brian Orakpo (Approx 10 mil per year)
      7
    • ILB Donald Butler (Approx 6 mil per year)
      21
    • S TJ Ward (Approx 7 mil per year)
      3
    • CB Alterraun Verner Approx 8 mil per year)
      5
    • WR Eric Decker (Approx 8 mil per year)
      3
    • Focus on resigning own, bring in some lower tier FAs

If I could only choose one, it would be Donald Butler. Then I would go after one of the other centers not named Mack. We need a true 3-4 ILBer and if we could get him for a decent price, then we could fill our other needs and upgrades with mid level free agents and be much better off. I can't wrap my mind around paying a center 9 mil. per yr.. That is just insanity in it's truest form IMO.

I went with Butler too in a split decision over Verner....a CB pairing with him and Davis is tempting...but that'll require a ton of $$$ tied up at CB, and I wanna see us get better with "down the middle" talent at C/OG on offense and DT, ILB and Safety on defense.

I like Mack and Byrd, but 9m a year is just too much if that's the price they're really commanding.

We are eventually going to have to let certain starters walk along the way as money gets tighter and rely on our scouts to find good talent along with signing the ocassional top FA talents(this part would be rare, cant field a team full of top talent at every position and sustain it, Have to build through the draft and coaching to), Thats where Polian screwed the pooch on that, He kept to many average players around that can be replaced (Vick Ballard for example....I like him and I want to keep him as long as possible but still rb's are a dime a dozen)

Bill Polian had some good years as our GM. But man is he the saltiest dude ive ever seen. Everytime I turn espn he just has nothing to say about the current colts regime and when he does he sneaks in a smart comment or a diss. He needs to grow up, build a bridge, and move on.

I would rather have Donald Butler because he's the only good young ILB in FA. Mack is the best player on the list but there's two other centers De La Puente and Smith, one of them we can get along with Butler.

I don't know how much he would set the Colts back but what would De La Puente's cap hit be?  I think it's less than Mack and as you pointed out, we could address other positions on D.

De La Puente cap hit will probably be 5 mil. Nick Mangold is the highest paid C and his cap hit is 9 mil. Mack's will be more then Mangolds. The Browns have enough cap space to resign Mack but the Saints don't for De La Puente, their already paying Evans and Grubbs top money.

Maybe in that case we go for De La Puente and get another RG or defensive player.

    • Jaxson Dart should go very high, nice size, quality arm, has improved each season. Playing in sec always helps.
    • Exactly.  I read that from a different source (but all reports may have originated from one source).    If the trade was made, that would again reshuffle the deck of players Ballard had to choose from, impacting on the quality of the draft to some player probably less than Latu.  I bet Ballard had no clue that ATL would try to trade up but be rejected by another, like he had it all figured out.  Has a guess, but no real working knowledge about what teams ahead of him will do.      Only Polian used to tell us he knew what other teams in front of him would do, an in every round.  LOL.
    • I thought it looked like it was drawn on with a marker or something. You can see it briefly in the video too
    • Then after the game he acts like this…   Just throw the whole * dude away, he’s just garbage top to bottom. Hopefully the league drops the hammer on his dumb * and he’ll have plenty of time for podcasting. What a piece of %.
    • I respect this Knicks team, their fans and media not so much. They think they are better than us because they live in a big city. Snobby to be honest. I remember the 90's when they were mocking us 'being Country like' and calling us Hayseeds. They have all the big celebrities that go to their games, like Spike, Jon Stewart, Tracy Morgan, etc..  My early look at this series:   -Brunson is going to be a problem, he is a Superstar, Haliburton is as well but not as consistent as Brunson is at scoring the ball. Haliburton is a better passer though, that is almost a wash. Brunson may be a tad better, but the Pacers have McConnell as well for depth, see my next point.   -Pacers have more depth   -Pacers are a better 3-point shooting team   -Pacers are a better Offensive team   -Knicks are better defensive team   -Knicks have HCA   This series is going to end up 2 ways. Either Pacers in 6 or Knicks in 7. Pacers will win in 6, if we can get one of 1st 2 games. If we fall behind 2-0, I doubt we can win 4 out of 5 against them.    Rebounding will be a huge key to this series as well. The team that gets a lot of 2nd chance points, will be the team that will probably win. The Pacers have the better Big's with Turner and Pascal but the Knicks are a scrappy bunch.
