1st Interception

After replaying the 1st half today, I could not help but endure watching the 1st interception so I tried to dissect it.  Dierdorf makes a comment that he stared down Brazil on that play, yes but that was not the reason for the int.  It was supposed to be a quick slant, the safety was not an issue.  The CB Dennard was.  Brazil I think was supposed to make a quick inside move and slant.  It was more of a timing plan. Brazil tried to do an outside fake and in a hand exchange/tangle and as he cutting inside, Luck threw the ball and Dennard jumped the route for the int.  Brazil should have made a quick inside move from the get go and his body would have prevented the int and get the possible 1st down reception and it was a 3rd and 2 situation.  Luck is not the type to point fingers at Brazil and it is his fault too, not to recognize Brazil was unable to get position on the quick slant.  Otherwise, Brazil did have a good game.  We are making Dennard, a 7th round draft choice last year, look like an All-Pro.

I forgot to mention that I'm not throwing Mr Luck under the bus, just making an observation.  Like I said about Manning in his youth, I believe in Andrew Luck and has had an outstanding 2 years in the league.  He is destined to to win a Super Bowl for us, probably more then 1 Super Bowl Championships, before he is done

Luck threw the same exact INT last year and we blamed him for it on this message board. Then later in the week we heard from the coaches that it was a timing route and the receiver cannot let the DB get the inside. In this instance, Brazill opted to go over the DB rather than cut him off, leading to the pick.

Overall, it still falls on Luck and the INT counts, along with the points scored off of it. But Luck has to trust his receivers and make the throw before they're open. In this case, it didn't work out.

Dennard is not your usual  7th round pick. He would have been taken waaaayyyyyyy higher if he wasn't dumb enough to punch a police offer in the weeks leading up to the draft.

OK I see, good scouting, another character issue guy for the Pats, but not as bad as Hernandez.

The football knowledge to be gleamed from this forum could fit into a half full thimble.

    • Id like to see more QB designed runs and stuff with options to run or pass. However I don't half way blame them for pressing pocket passing either bc at some point you know JT is going to get hurt. Might as well let AR get his feel for the pocket early in the season. Say what you want but plenty of guys are open. He's just got to place and complete the pass properly. So far hasn't been happening but we will keep trying until things improve I guess
    • But I think Adebaware is a better 3T than him. He's getting better and better.
    • Do people really think his progression should be a graph line going steadily upward? Really? Seven games. It's going to be up and down. Two steps forward, one step back. Sometines, one step forward, three steps back. Especially for a guy who is about as raw as they come. Fans better expect it.
    • I’m glad our team didn’t have the bears body language. At least they were encouraging AR on his mistakes. Williams on the other seemed like he is already on the hot seat and teammates are getting tired of it.
    • I will say this. AR imo threw the ball much MUCH better in his 4 games last year compared to his first 3 this year.  Not even close.   I have to believe a lot of that is due to him being unable to practice much on his mechanics until August or so.  Remember even during spring practice he was complaining of a sore shoulder and had to take some time off.   I fully believe that once he is totally over his injury that he will be able to take the extra reps needed to get back into a way of throwing without having to think so much.   I play a sport at a highly competitive level, won't say which one, but I broke my thumb this spring and I just now am start to get back into the swing of things.  But I am not even close to where I was before I broke it.
