Rivers would of come back to colts after Wentz trade

This deserves its own thread. Rivers said if colts were in a bind after trading Wentz and couldn’t find a QB he would of come back.

Yeah - that information was floated last year too - but - Rivers had committed to coaching high school football and the Colts were "hopeful" that Frank Reich could help Wentz regain his form from the Super Bowl season.

 

I'm happier with Matt Ryan.

Happier with Ryan but Phil is a HoF, and would probably have been better than many of the other options floated around as a stopgap/bridge QB.

Happier with Ryan.  He’s Rivers but younger.  Had the Colts not gotten Ryan though I wouldn’t have been shocked if the Colts had gone down that path.

This makes me respect Phil even more. He was a Charger for years upon years, and after just one year in the Circle City he would have come out of retirement as a stopgap if we needed his help. That’s incredibly generous of him if true. Thanks, Phil. Always a Colt in my book!

Well yeah, but any half-decent stop gap will want a chunk of change, and none of them would be as good as him. The money aspect isn’t lost on me, I promise you.

Hmmm…I would have liked to see that. Would have been a cheaper deal than the $54M gtd that Ryan is getting paid. 
 

But it probably would have only been one year, so that means they would have had to draft a QB.
