Ballard didn’t have a choice.   Doctors removed him from the board.   They do on all 32 teams.   Otherwise Sweat would’ve gone roughly 15-18 pucks sooner than he did. 

 

No one is arguing Banogu is better than Sweat.   Banogu is the result of Ballard’s decision to move down and maximize value.   A mid-round two this  year, and a likely high-round two next year.   

 

 

Could it be we have some heart specialist that examined Sweat in this thread ?

Possible,  but if I had to guess,  I'd go no.    Because you don't want another team accusing the doctors of having any type of conflict of interest.

 

And if the Colts doctors are clearing everyone at the combine,  that feels like an invitation to trouble and a lawsuit.

 

But what do I know?    I'm purely speculating...   and hoping it sounds intelligent!    :thmup:

How do you know Banogu isn't that guy? You can't. People were saying the exact same crap about Leonard and he became an absolute stud. What if the guy they take next year is another stud? What if we compete seriously for the SB this season and use that extra pick to climb up and take that player to get us over the top? Next year's draft makes this one look silly. This was the most top heavy draft I can remember, honestly, in my lifetime. People said the value was in the 2nd and 3rd because they were essentially all graded the same after the top 12-15 guys. Khari Willis, a guy graded in the 4th/5th round scored an 87 on either PFF or NFL.com (can't remember which), the same as guys going 2-3 rounds ahead of him. Next year, the cream should rise higher than 10 dudes, and we'll get at least 2, maybe 3, of those guys. Maybe 2 in the first of they play it right. After watching that Colts Productions video, I can't even begin to question that group right now haha, I'm all the way on board! In Ballard I trust.

We don't know if Banogu was or wasn't the guy. We just know that he was one of the "underlined" guys which I'm sure there were plenty. We can probably glean from the vid that they were happy to trade back all along.

Except Banogu isn’t the understudy to Houston.   His first position with the Colts is the strongside backer.     He’ll play some DE...    but most of his snaps will likely be at backer.

I think Sweat would have been a no brainier if he didn't have health concerns or character issues, but he did. I think Banogu will fits our scheme better. We also don't have their 2020 second round pick. The 2020 pick could end up being a better edge defender than both of them, or maybe even the next Dallas Clark, Dwight Freeney, or Tarik Glenn. You never know!

 

The 26th pick is worth 700 points. The 49th pick is worth 410 points. 291 points or better would make the trade benefit us. In the second round of 2020 if the Redskins get the 61st (29th pick in the second round(292 points)) pick or lower we win the trade mathematically. I would say our chances are pretty solid.

 

If they get the 35th pick or so like I think they will. Then the 49th pick and 35th pick add up to the 17th pick. We will win this trade unless the Redskins are super bowl bound somehow.

      He isnt Christian McCafferey, but when he has the ball in the open field he is very dangerous.   What happened Sunday was Taylor missed a block and dropped a pass and Shane tricked himself into thinking it was a good idea to take his best player out, despite the fact he was playing very well and use 2 guys who I have literally never seen make a single play that has impressed me, ever.    They should have to earn the right to be in the game in the 4th quarter by making plays when they get opportunities earlier in the game. They arent doing that and are just being handed the keys without earning it.    Honestly I feel like Shane should be taking more heat than he is. He did this exact thing in the Texans game last year. Taylor was destroying them and he took him out and put in Goodson.   It made no sense then and it made no sense last week.

      None of it makes sense. Goodson has like 7 catches for no yards, so calling him a pass catching back is crazy.   What he is, is a 3rd string RB who isnt very good.   No way he should play over Taylor in any situation.
