Ballard & Frank's post draft interview

I loved the post draft interview into the inner workings of the draft thought process & where we are as a unit right now, as a fan it should be standard viewing, to see the mind set of our GM & head coach. I love the process that they talk about balancing Character/ Athletic ability.

Also after establishing, a locker room culture, Taking a  chance on talent down the road on more high profile FA's.  This is why I am so glad to be a Colt fan from the late 50's. Do I like winning? yes, but I think in this football world as a business, it's nice to see integrity is not completely gone. 

Anyway that's my two cent's worth, Anybody have any thoughts on the interview?

Good to know that some of us old timers are still around. I’ve been a Colts fan since 1958. They’ve been my favorite team since I became a football fan.

The fact the GM/ scouting team and the coaches appear they are on the same page is crucial.  I have heard that issues can develop when scouts get 'their guy' drafted, but the coaches were lukewarm (or worse) when they worked them out.  Seeing them all in agreement / unison is comforting.

 

P.S. - Vikings fan (Colts were a close #2) from 1968 - to around 1974 or so.  Then switched to Only the Colts from then on as #1. (But still have a light heart for the Purple gang)

They are doing it right. Wins will be a bonus. 

We have a bunch of great character guys right now which I love too. Luck, TY, Nelson, AC, Ebron, and Leonard. Much like the 2006 team with Peyton, Reggie, Freeney, Mathis, Brackett, and Saturday.

      I think we are seeing growth from Ballard as a GM, which is what I would think everyone would hope for. He’s gone after free agents (even though they didn’t come here), he drafted a qb, put offers to move up in the 1st, and now drafted an edge that is actually productive instead of off upside. Hope it continues.

      My bad, you’re right.  I don’t know who stats I was looking at last night lol.  Hennessy will do that. ;(   Well, Trey production might’ve been due to him being in a rotation over there in NO before he got to Cincy, with him being a third rounder.  But either way, Trey turned it on year 4.  So you’re right, I’ll give qwitty one more year.  Not saying qwitty is bad, but we do need more from that position.  And it seems Ballard and co agrees as this is his second attempt at trying to upgrade that position this off-season.   I agree with the pick, we can’t wait and hope for something when we have an opportunity to possibly upgrade at a premium position and one of the highest paying positions.  Due to the way the draft played out, We had the opportunity to pick the FIRST defensive player off the board, which also mean probably the BEST defensive player on the board (depending on how whoever looks at it).  We don’t know when we’ll have that opportunity if ever again.

      Well said. For me the injury concern isn't the "right now" as much as it is "will it effect his longevity?" Unless I am forgetting someone, Manning is the only recollection I have of a similar sitch....Different position/age/etc. but he held up for like 3 or so years, before his skills diminished beyond effective......again I understand the differences but I don't think its known what the expectations are for any individual long term.....I hope its for a good long time.....but it does concern me, mostly because its not an injury procedure that has a lot of examples to draw from in terms of how it plays out long term.

      Context is king. Thank you for sharing that. I'll look up some more information on his situation, or at least I will if my dang eye every slows down on swelling!
