Waiting For Anything To Happen

I have a feeling March 8th will come and go and nothing will happen.

Honestly, there's no way Irsay just says "ok everyone, Peyton has been released" or tries to spin it. I think if he was going to be cut he would have done it by now. I don't think he's going to be cut or I think the decision will be delayed.

That is highly unlikely. If the Colts do not actively release PM before March 8, they are obligated to pay a non-exercise fee of $28MM to PM, while PM becomes a FA.

The Colts will either actively release PM before March 8, or pay the option bonus of $28MM to keep PM a Colt.

You would think that has been said enough.. guess not.

Or push back the date. Not likely, yes, but impossible, no. Just trying to stir the proverbial pot... :)

Anyhow, I agree with coltnorth. I wish something would happen so that we could discuss it instead of always talking about Manning. I also know, as UndecidedFrog pointed out, that most everything does hang on the Manning decision. Still, it would be nice to have some fresh news to debate over. The Manning talk is getting so old, and like UndecidedFrog said here and southwest1 stated in his blog, my head hurts. We aren't even kicking up a dead horse anymore, we're digging up the casket and everything...

Only if I experience continuous progress as I rehab. Head regeneration is a tricky process.

At anytime I may experience a plateau, at which time my head will stop regenerating.

Yes, but once the regeneration begins it will not stop, according to Doctors with knowledge of the situation. The biggest question is whether or not your head will achieve a solid fusion, otherwise you could really mess yourself up when you stretch out for a nice tasty fly...

Perhaps we could get the head janitor of Lucas Oil Stadium on the boards and give us an update with any kind of changes that might be happening to the stalls...

Perhaps they signed a new oval bowl to the roster or a low flow urinal....

The urinal deadline is March 21st and I expect that we either resign the urinals or release them :)

Another week, then what will everyone argue about?

Maybe if we're lucky (pun intended) they'll cut Peyton, he waits a few days, then the Colts sign him back to a teeny contract with tons of incentive money.....or something else totally unexpected which everyone will say "I knew they'd do that" and they really didn't.

The wait isn't over yet so now I look for another thread to read, agree, disagree, or smile while reading it.

I'm actually kind of surprised (and disappointed) that Mathis hasn't been re-signed yet. I really don't want to lose him.

When you're talking about the type of money Mathis will get, they need to get something done either way with Manning first. I think every Colt FA understands that but Reggie evidently because he's the only one that's been talking about it. Pagano has mentioned Mathis a couple times in different interviews and his press conference, I think he wants Mathis back, it's just a matter of getting the numbers to jive up.

Agreed. Everything else is pending the Peyton decision.

If it goes to the bitter end, there's a lot of work to do in 5 days.

If we start seeing the signing of other players I think it's pretty fair to assume that a decision's been made on Peyton, even if it's not learned until the 8th.

The only exception would be the restructuring of contracts such as Freeney, Addai, Bracket, whoever. I'd guess they'd pursue some of these, but we haven't heard anything yet, and I wouldn't think they're dependent on Peyton's deal.

everything personnel will happen after March 8th and after the Colts decide on Manning which I still believe he will be cut, now I am not saying he could resign him to a incentive-laden deal but I just don't think it is very likely

The franchise tag is due on 3/5, so something will have to be done before then if they wish to use it on Mathis, or Wayne/Garcon for that matter.

It's like the song says. If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice. Somebody should tweet that to Irsay.

You can choose a ready guide in some media voice.

If you choose not to pay the bonus, you still have made a choice.

You can choose from salary fears, or cap numbers that can kill,

I would choose a path thats clear, I would pay the bill....

    • As it stands the Eagles are pretty loaded with CBs at the moment after picking up Rodgers then drafting both Quinyon and Cooper in the draft. There have been rumblings of them potentially preparing to move Bradberry. They are currently in need of another WR, so the question I pose is would you be ok with trading Alec to Philly in exchange for Bradberry? Or do you think they should let the current CBs on the roster battle it out? Keep in mind Bradberry is approaching 31 years of age.
    • Exactly. I wanted the Vikes to trade Jefferson. I think being careful not to overpay is important in football. I guess that is why I like Ballard. He does not jump and pay the shiniest free agent all this money. He believes in rewarding his own players.   The only reason I would pay Jefferson is because he has been in our organization and we know him. I prefer paying players who have been with the team and have been good players and good citizens (stays out of trouble, are team players, etc.)
    • It is but as the guys reporting this said Pierce was the only one of the top four WRs working with special teams and not something he’s done in the past.  Like I said it’s early indication,  it can clearly change.
    • Yeah it was a wild game. Cubs are in a funk that is for sure lol.
    • Tatum is a great player but Doncic is better. Both teams basically will have a week off and should come in healthy so there really can't be any excuses for the losing team. Unless a key player gets injured during the series. I still like Dallas in 6. If I am wrong I will be here and tip my cap to you, and say I was wrong.   Regarding football, if you look my top 5 QBs of all-time, I have Brady #1 and I am a diehard Colts fan. I have Brady 1, Montana 2, Peyton 3, Mahomes 4, Unitas 5. The League MVP is the 2nd best thing a QB can win, only winning the Championship is better. So I put a lot of weight on League MVPs. Peyton is top 5 at worse just because of that alone combined with winning 2 Championships. At the end of the year, if a QB doesn't win the Championship, but wins League MVP, most say, he still at least won MVP and was the best player the whole regular season.
