IU firing Kevin Wilson?

Yup. Can't imagine he was fired due to the teams play, I mean he just took them to two straight bowls. Something must be going on behind the scenes.

Didn't he just sign a 6 year deal . With the team on the rise there is no way it's related to the teams performance

This is all I could find and it had to do with the treatment of players.  Basically pressuring injured players to play and one who had a concussion being rushed back to play and causing issues.

On an added note, glad to see Allen get a chance, he made a complete turnaround with the defense this year.  Although for next season, he will need to find a strong offensive coordinator to follow in Wilson's path.

Found another article, seems to pretty much say the same thing with nothing conclusive.  However, they did have some interesting notes from the press conference by Athletic Director Fred Glass.

He characterized Wilson’s departure as a resignation, meaning Wilson willingly gave up more than $2 million he would have received had he been fired without cause. Under terms of their separation agreement, IU will pay Wilson one year base pay ($542,000); Wilson will eat the remaining four years ($2,168,000)

Direct quotes from Glass;

“What might be OK at other places, what might be OK in an industry, isn’t necessarily OK here,” he said. “And that doesn’t make me right or wrong, but I can tell you that I came at this earnestly with the best interests of IU at heart, and I can tell you I’m proud to be part of an institution that (prioritizes) doing the right thing ahead of competitive success.”

Glass also offered the following, unprompted, of Allen:

“He is demanding but not demeaning,” Glass said of Kevin Wilson’s replacement. “He cares about his players, and they care back.”

I was thinking the same thing.

The way things are sounding, it's looking that way, or at least enough noise from treatment of players to the program look bad.  It also looks bad on Wilson's part that he would forfeit most of his contract.  If he was straight up fired, he would still receive the rest of the money owed.

    • Its hard to make any kind of judgment after two games.    Just a spitball observation, his throwing motion looks weird.  It's as if his entire body is moving/wiggling when he throws, instead of rotating a shoulder over a steady body and hips, and I don't mean when he's rolling out.   Also, in both games, his plant foot has slipped on two or three different dropbacks when about to throw.  One resulted in a TD to AP, but plant foot issues is a sign of poor lower body discipline.   Basic stuff, IMO.
    • Richardson reminds me a bit of watching some really big, muscular basketball players shooting free throws. They lack the touch to do it well - and look like they may not ever develop that soft touch.   But I don't know whether that analogy really fits or not. And there are no doubt some really big, muscular basketball players who shoot well and have a soft touch.    You could also think about the powerful home run hitter who can hit the ball a mile, but struggles at making consistent contact. He might practice forever at improving this, but will always be a low batting average, high strikeout player.    Just because you keep practicing something - particularly something you've already been practicing a long time - doesn't mean you'll become particularly good at it. But there are also examples of athletes who become much more skilled as their careers progress.   I think I disagree with people who say Richardson will definitely become a star and those who say he definitely won't. There's just no way of knowing if he'll improve enough on things like the ability to consistently throw a soft short-medium pass in the spot where the receiver needs to have it.
    • This is my guess as well.      that said, this thread is intended to talk about the good and bad of AR, so hopefully we can stick to the topic.   Overall I see potential with AR. I think if the Colts are patient and just let him work thru his flaws, we might have something
    • Both picks were on AR.  AP was open and AR overthrew.  AR didn't have to throw the ball to a covered Pittman, and if Pittman was a step ahead when AR released the ball, then the ball was placed behind Pittman, forcing him to slow down into the trailing LBer.    There must be some strange limitation to JT that fans don't understand, because Frank also used him in a weird rotation.  I think its about pass blocking, and he whiffed badly early in the game, and the formula says that when a team is behind late in the 4th, the passing game takes precedence despite the performance of the RB through three Qs.  Just a guess.
    • Cowherd and his Podcast Co-Pilot were reminding his listeners that QBs generally never improve their accuracy...they struggle with it their entire career.  And that using Josh Allen as an example might just simply create a lot of false hope.  Just sayin'
