Colts and the Future

Hello Fellow Colts fans

Checking in here from Denmark

Where to start, because there are so many areas where this Colts team need upgrades and improvements.

Lets start with the good things and the things we dont need.

1. We have our franchise QB in Andrew Luck

2. Our WR´s are good and the same can be said for our TE´s

3. We have our center in Ryan Kelly, whos as good as hoped

4. we have the best punter and kicker in the league

Well, that was the good things to be said about this team.

The rest of the team stinks and needs a freaking big overhaul before we can contend again.

Just to mention af few things or areas we need upgrades.

1. Our GM sucks and even though chuck pagan is a players coach, we need some one new to direct this team in the future.

2. We need pash rushers, o-line, defence and argh.... this team is a mess and there are so many things that needs to be fixed.

I love the colts and fell in love with this team, when I first saw them play back in 2001.

Maybe im just angry about the loss in London tonight, but this team won't make it to the playoffs this season, so i actually hope we lose a lot of games this season, so we can get some high draft picks and players that can help make this team and organization a winning organization again.

Leonard Fournette would be a great RB for this team, but so would a wrecking ball on the defensive side of this team.

The colts need to figure out how to win games again, but honesty i dont think we have the right set up to become succesful with these players and coaches.

What do you say?

We need another star on the defense, besides Vontae (who btw, was lights out today). We got good players, like Green and Geathers, and some young guys like Maggit who may turn out to be star players. But you can't rely on guys who might become stars. Especially when they are still young and developing. I would hate to sit through a 3-13 season, but if it means grabbing a tier one level talent like Garrett, than maybe I could swallow it.

The only reason I'm not down for tanking is that 1) It's boring to watch 2) A top pick doesn't mean an automatic star.

You guys, Jim Irsay has not been a problem for this franchise. I think folks are to young to remember what a joke the team was before he became owner. You can't count the non playoff season during his  ownership on one hand. Only a few others can claim that feat.

He gave them a free pass off of last year, I bet he makes a move this year. Do you want a new coach every season they struggle?

This picture is why the Colts probably won't win a championship in the next few years, in my opinion.

You're right, the team is a mess.  There is talent here and there, but that's not good enough to compete for a championship

In my opinion your opinion is DEAD ON.

He shouldn't have made that free pass.  It wasn't because last year was an off year with Luck being hurt.  It's because this team is regressing when it should be atop the AFC.

I agree draft picks are many times busts and most are projects, if they become good many times they move on for more money

    • Just want no injuries.  Are they wearing shells or just working on installs?
    • The offense is probably going to dominate to an extent as the defense will be limited in what they can do, so I expect Richardson to get some nice throws in. I want to see how good his short and medium accuracy throws are. I'd like to see him gain some chemistry with AD Mitchell and throw the ball deep to Pierce. Also want to see Woods get involved.   Right now, I don't expect much from the O-Line and D-Line. There won't be much physicality, but maybe a bit of pressure. I do want to see how JuJu, Flowers, Abraham, Jones, and Simpson will do defending our WRs. Also, Cross, Scott, and Thomas from the Safeties.
    • If the Football Gods finally bless Rich Eisen and Rodgers somehow makes it:    SF - Loss NE - Win Buff - Win PITT - Win Hou - Win IND - Win   Really the stiffest competition is against the 49ers.
    • Catch -22 Does he not blitz at a higher rate (we are at the lower end of the middle of the pack) because his Ballard believes in bigger slower (4.5's) corners that can't cover go routes? BTW, if neither corner has deep speed it freezes your single high safety to the middle of the field, and Deep. IMO, Ballard's corner theory makes our single high safety look brainless.  Franklin gets chewed up good when he drops into cover 2. As I recall a 75% completion rate, 10+ per reception, and his Yac is more than the catch depth. He just stands there when guys leak out in front of him. Mike Singletary would rip his head off for not getting in there and meeting the ball.
    • One thing I just saw was the Colts were bottom 4 of the league in giving up rushing TDs. That helps explain the Davis signing to some degree.    They also gave up 62 passing plays for 20+ yards. Thats a lot considering the consensus seems to be our secondary gives a large cushion.     The more I dive into stats, the more I see Ballard called it how it is. We need to be more explosive on offense and give up less big plays on defense.  The Colts rank in the middle in most categories. Looks like the big plays really hurt this team. Will be interesting if the increased pass rush and experience in the secondary helps improve this defense. I think it will.
