People keep saying the NFL should reimburse more than the tickets as the "right thing to do."  

 

Why isn't the "right thing to do" is for the attendees to realize that mistakes happen and not file a lawsuit?

sounds like some people were chapped at the way the NFL handled it that day.

I can see their point.  But yeah, it's not like they were trapped on a cruise ship with  no water or power and then got offered another cruise by way of compensation.

 

When I got married I spent a significant chunk wedding day posing for pictures.  But it turns out the photographer was drunk and all the film was double exposed.  There was not a single picture with me and my husband together.

 

They wanted us to pay full price and we wanted them to give it to us for free AND do a portrait of us.  We got our way.  Got all dressed up again and had a photo shoot.

 

Can't get day back though.  If I had known none of the pics would turn out I'd have spent that time talking to people rather than posing for a drunk!

It's my understanding, some actually got more than they paid for....  as in ~ a few hours of visiting with the players and autograph opportunites.     Hey in my book, that would have been a better experience than watching the HOF game

Good point. After thinking about for a minute I agree. I bet it wasn't as boring sitting through 3 quarters of 2nd, 3rd and 4th string players.

I understand people being upset over the way it was handled.  But I don't think about suing every time something happens that upsets me.

 

Bummer story about the wedding pictures.  A family member had a similar thing happen, the lens on the camera was messed up, so when the pictures were developed the pictures were only the bottom half... no heads in any of the pictures unless one person was sitting and one was standing.

I stand by my thought that this is another stupid lawsuit.

Still though one variable is uncontrollable (weather either threat or actuality) and one is controllable (playing surface, etc.).  I agree that lawsuits can be frivolous but in this instance I do believe that it might be warranted.  I do think the NFL should have reimbursed some of the fans for the hotels, travel, etc through one way or another.

This is just my opinion, of course, but I think the majority of people that made arrangements months in advance, and traveled to Canton for the weekend festivities, were there to see some of their favorite players, coaches, etc. enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and to participate in several weekend activities.  The game would have been an added bonus to cap off the weekend.

 

I have to believe the majority of people got to see and experience what they were really there for.  And as I stated earlier, due to the game being cancelled, many of those attendees got some one on one time with the players, photo ops, autographs, etc..      

 

It's unfortunate that the game was cancelled.  But I don't believe it is lawsuit worthy.   JMO.

I agree that they should have, but not to the extent that it warrants being sued.
