Seems to be a combination of all. I have no clue as to how many players who have played in the NFL in it's history but the small amount of players and or coaches listed is pretty small when you look at it from that perspective.

That would be an interesting statistic to find out.  How many different people have played at least one NFL regular season or playoff snap.

 

I would have to estimate that it would be hundreds of thousands.
