Nice Belichick Tribute to Marchibroda....

Came upon this....   seems the BB got his first coaching job at 22 years of age under Ted Marchibroada,  then the HC of the Baltimore Colts.

BB credits TM for much of what he learned.

Here's an easy read.     About halfway down, note the coaching tree that Marchibroada has left behind.    Some pretty impressive names...

(Ignore the video from BB at the postgame following the win over KC.    It has nothing to do with the Marchibroada story)

Good gracious. I had forgotten that. Wow. Thanks, OC!

Thanks to NCF for posting article.

As Marchibroda came from the Redskins, he brought the playbook with him. Bill' s job as a young gofer was to white out the name Redskins, type in Colts, then Xerox copies. Maxie Vaughn was still the DC, and it was the same defense. This could have been the Genesis for future shenanigans.

Was this the genesis for the movie Waterboy? Seems like I've heard this story before. Honestly if it was his own play designs then he should be able to take them with him...however...if this was indeed like the movie (which could be loosely based on a true story...we don't know for a fact) than perhaps Marchibroda was a bully and just stole them from Fonzie.

It was from Press Box, a Baltimore publication that was remembering Coach Marchibroda. This was Belichick's own recollections, and how he grew up a Colt's fan living in Annapolis when his dad was coaching at Navy.

Belichick also is a big lacrosse fan and good friend of Johns Hopkins coach Dave Pietramala. Both he and John Harbaugh were on the sidelines when Maryland played Hopkins.

Coach Ted, besides his run with the Baltimore and Indianapolis Colts, was the first coach of the Baltimore Ravens from 1996-98. He spanned many eras from Baltimore to Indy, then back to Baltimore again.
