Here's my problem Superman. I get that Grigson has "tried" to bring in players but he's been throwing band aids on a problem that has clearly needed surgery since day 1. Yes, he's drafted offensive linemen but how many of those picks were in rounds 1 and 2? And we've seen as a general trend that free agency is not the way to go to build an offensive line, much less a team.

It's really quite simple. Grigson has put down 10 pennies and expects them to magically become a quarter. The value of spending more hasn't equated to the quality that's needed to securely build an offensive line.

He made Cherilus the highest paid RT in league history. That's not a band aid. Neither was Thomas, whose only problem was that he suffered two freak injuries. Or we could have kept starting Seth Olsen and Winston Justice.

And sure, if you discount every move that Grigson made that wasn't to your liking, we can pretend that he hasn't done anything. But he has. Good players get drafted in middle rounds all the time. Everyone loves to talk about what the Patriots do; they started a fourth round rookie for 11 games last season. Rounds 1 and 2 aren't the only ones that matter.

Criticize these moves, there's plenty of room to do so. Talk about how they haven't worked, even offer alternatives. Stop pretending no moves were made.

And to the bolded, there's no such thing as securely building anything in pro sports. Spend all the top picks you want, you'll still miss sometimes. Players will still get injured. Some won't reach their potential.

I thought Cherilus would be Good. What a huge bust he was here. He was Very Good in Detroit. You just never know. A lot of how Good a player is, is scheme and play calling. I really didn't think Peyton had a Great Line the whole time he was here with the exception of Saturday but yet he made it look easy most of the time. The 2005 Playoff game against the Steelers we got killed by the blitz by though and that was maybe our best team ever talent wise.

I'd like to see the size of the shoe horn you used to make that fit.

Grigson wrote that note after the playoff game against the Ravens in 2012. That offseason, he drafted two offensive linemen, and signed two veterans to start ($48.5m worth of contracts in free agency). Let's put to rest the idea that Grigson hasn't brought in linemen, please. It's false.

No one knows the truth about the Pep hire. I'll say what I've said already: the reports aren't accurate, as they claim it was Grigson wanting Pep and Pagano wanting Chudzinski, and that's just not possible. You can continue to state it as fact, but it's hardly verified.

And Shipley has to be the most overrated journeyman OL in the history of the NFL. He's barely average, and made several mistakes in protection in his four games as a starter. Around here, we like to complain about every little mistake our players make, unless we're talking about a favorite like Shipley. "Shipley failed to pick up a stunt? No problem, he's our guy!" "Thornton got called for holding??? God, he SUCKS, get him off the field!" If Grigson didn't want Shipley to play, he just wouldn't have claimed him off waivers, or he would have released him.

No one think's he's good but for a long long LONG time he was our best center and for some reason he was stuck on the bench.

the same way Reitz is our 2nd best guard (best if you consider Mewhort a RT) and is riding the bench until someone gets hurt.

You always have to overpay in free agency. That's why Cherilus was the highest paid RT in league history. That's why the Colts dumped a ton of money in a backup DT (RJF). The list goes on and on for every team.

I'm not trying to criticize every move I didn't like or claim Grgison hasn't tried, but the fact is he hasn't fixed the offensive line. And the primary reason for that is that he hasn't invested highly in it with his draft picks. Again, Grigson seems to think that by pulling nobody's out of the CFL and 7th round draft picks, the problem is going to get fixed. Ironically enough, the one linemen he took with a 2nd round pick has turned out to be his best in Jack Mewhort. There's a reason why players drafted in rounds 1 through 2 will typically end up being better than players drafted in rounds 3-7.

If you want a position to be one of strength like Grigson has talked about, start using some of those earlier draft picks and get good, quality players. You won't hit every time but your odds are slightly better than hoping a 7th round linemen will do the same thing a 1st round linemen will do.

    • Less than 2 months away when the greatest crushes this Jake Paul guy. Tyson in 3. Tyson is getting in great shape, he looks fast and strong as of now.    When I list boxers where they rank all-time, I go by peak. You have to when it comes to boxing because most fighters Don't last long. Mike Tyson from 1985-1995 only lost once in 10 years. His record in that time frame was 43-1 37 KO's. Buster Douglas KO'd him in the 10th round in a fight where Mike didn't even train for and Mike Actually KO'd him in the 8th, Douglas got a 13 count.    Notable wins in that 10 year frame.   Berbick Tucker  Spinks Bruno Ruddock (twice)
    • I'm excited about our future. I think Ballard put together 2 very nice drafts in a row. Never thought we would get Latu, thought we had a better chance at Bowers. Still holding out hope for Cross, he flashes greatness than dissappears, hope he's consistent. Hope Woods takes lead in TE room. I keep writing off Granson, but he keeps impressing. Even if Richardson has a mediocre season I think the team around him could get us to 10-7.
    • I think you understood his words in a "positive" way, but that's not what he said.   He DID NOT say that "most of you would choose to get married..."   That's your implication. Of course, only women can bring children in this world and most of the women will choose to be married and have children, but that's not exactly what he said.   He said, "doing so - while some others will go on to lead successful career in the world - will take you closer to God's Will"    Here's what he said from the transcript:    He could've said, "even if you go on to have a very successful career, and get the greatest accolades of the world, I think the most important title of a woman is :  Homemaker. And, that would take you closer to God's Will"    But, he didn't say so because he wanted to say exactly what he believes women should do and brought God into that by saying that's His Will.    I think he made a mistake of implying that women are generally excited about marriage and having kids and being a homemaker, when that's only part of a woman's life - even though that could be the most cherished and blessed part of the life.   He only looked at how that made his wife's life - his words, not his wife's words by the way - and projected that to all the women.
    • This happens every single year and every single year people worry about the occasional unsigned rookie when we haven't even gotten into June yet.   Guys/gals... it's really a big nothing burger. Ever since the NFL introduced rookie scale contracts this has been a non-issue. Everything important in those contracts has been made non-negotiable. The negotiable things are largely minutiae - it's about schedule of payment...it's about off-set language, or language about voiding salary payments(for example - can the team void payments for suspensions and stuff like that), etc.   There are two cases I remember in the last 10 years where this has become a problem and the player has actually missed training camp practices because of it - Joey Bosa(because of schedule of payments dispute) and Roquan Smith(because of dispute about the language about voiding payments for suspensions because of play). And as you see... Both of those were top 10 picks. (i.e. more money on the line)...   Holdouts/holdins of day 2 and day 3 picks are pretty much unheard of. I personally couldn't find a single case when I looked for it.    AD seems to be taking part in both rookie mini camp and in OTAs and hasn't missed any practice, we haven't heard about any sort of dispute so far, so my assumption would be there is nothing to see here and it's all formality.    So yeah... Unless we hear there is a problem I would just assume everything is good.
