Colts will have a private meeting with Todd Gurley

I say much ado about nothing.

He was in town to have his knee looked at by independent doctors and...

The Colts took the opportunity to talk with kid.

Ya never know when a given player might fall into the right opportunity for a team.

That logic doesn't make any sense.  One drafted running back isn't going to keep you from adding to the defense. What happens if you draft whoever else in the 1st round and they suck?  Does that lessen the effect?

I can see the arguments that say get a back in another round, but when you have an exceptional talent I don't see much wrong with stepping outside of the box.

There's no guarantee that any of these 1st round draft picks will pan out in year one or at all.  Werner is still trying to get his neck out the woods and he's not a running back.  Honestly I'd argue that running back is the fastest position that a prospect could make an immediate contribution to in year 1.  Heck even a sorry back like T Rich almost popped a 1000 yards in year 1.

What do you mean "That logic doesn't make any sense." Taking a RB for the sake of taking a RB because of talent only? The Colts need to "Stop The Run" before they can even think of anything else.

If you're deeply cut somewhere and bleeding ... Get it fixed now before you die! ( DL )

If you're dealing with fractures and breaks ... Get it fixed now before you cannot! ( S/OL )

If you're dealing with concussions ... Get it fixed now before you forget! ( ILB )

If you're dealing with bumps and bruises ... Get it fixed now before you _need_ to! ( RB )

Get the picture? It's like going to the emergency room with your carotid artery cut ( DL ) and asking them to put a band-aid ( RB ) on it to take care of the problem.

"That logic doesn't make any sense."

    • Lol I’ve been done soooo many times. Might as well treat this team like other bad habits, they’re hard to kick. Ballard has sunk his teeth in this draft. It will either be great or get him fired.
    • Jaylon Carlies is on my MY GUYS list.  Projected as a coverage linebacker.  Fits the mold of new-age defense guy who doesn't come off the field, regardless of what coverage is called.  You want him to play safety?  Sure.  Nickel?  You bet.  Linebacker?  No problem.  Doesn't just cover, he can also hit.  Hard. Downside is that he doesn't project well as a run-support linebacker.  Difficulties shedding blocks.  You don't really want this guy in the phone booth.  He needs to roam freely and cover in the open.
    • Who cares what he has to say.    Exactly!
    • Bud, I’m about as conservative as it gets so take your woke nonsense elsewhere. Not everyone judges looks, especially a GM trying to call a player. Just insecure fools that throw out insults to make themselves feel important. Enjoy the fleeting moment.
