Are the Chargers a mirage?

The Chargers remind me of the KC Chiefs of last year till they played the Broncos.

 

They beat up on all lower tier teams (Bills, Jaguars, Raiders, Jets) and had 1 good home win vs the Seahawks, who the wheels seem to be falling off, now we realize but their O was more healthy then. Have lost to Cardinals and Chiefs so far to go 5-2.

 

This loss to the Chiefs will really hurt the Chargers, who could lose 2 in a row after Thursday night to the Broncos, I feel. Then, their last 5 is murderer's row, IMO, at Baltimore, home to Patriots, home to Broncos, at 49ers, and at Chiefs.

KC isn't as bad as people think though. They play hard every week. Coming off a bye I figured they would be more desperate for the win then SD. SD though does have some tough games which will tell the story later.

Everything you said about them could pretty much be said about us. Both teams have lost one on the road and one on the road. Both teams have for the most part demolished the inferior teams. We both have a great home win vs a great team (Seahawks for chargers, bengals for us). Sometimes, you just lose a close game.

Both the Chargers and Colts will make the playoffs and put up a tough out there, imo.

Not a mirage - just decimated. I said it the last two games, "next man up only works so far down the lineup."  We've been playing 2s and 3s along with top guys, but the top guys are dropping like flies.

 

Tom Telesco has worked wonders with upgrading our personnel for us to get this far, but having our bye week  in week 9 hasn't done us any favors.  

 

We're 5-2.  Almost lost last week to a team coming off their bye week, new coach, 2 weeks to game plan us.  Same story today - they game planned us pretty much perfectly.  Our secondary losing Brandon Flowers and Jason Verrett in one game - that's the two pieces left that kept it functioning.

 

We'll know more later.  I'm pretty realistic.  If we can hold it together and begin to regain players we could peak at the right time.

Chargers are in good shape...the Seattle win is big

......they get SF late though..and they'll be healthy.

But there's no kidding anybody...their season comes down to a split...at least ...against Denver

Could be as bad as the 49ers tonight, or we could give them fits.  We're running out of players in our secondary - so it's quite possible that Peyton cuts us to shreds... or if we get pressure on him we could cause him to have 6 interceptions once again.  It's not real likely though ;-)

The Chargers are a classic play to the level of their compatiton type of team. It's why they don't have more playoff success.

No. SD is for real but they play in the toughest division in the AFC. KC is a very good team as we saw yesterday and when they played the Pats a few weeks ago. That being said, this game Thursday is huge. If SD gets rolled by Denver than they will scrapping for a WC and the Chiefs already have a game in hand over them.

I am talking about a potential match up in the playoffs as long as the Chargers don't blow it.  Colts will be there

I'm not really worried about them "blowing it" so much as just not having the personnel left to make a run.  This team is really different in attitude, discipline and the undefinable will to win.  It isn't the team that often blew the easy game and won the unwinnable ones, and were so inconsistent.

 

KC played solid yesterday - we just made stupid mistakes especially on 3rd down.  They could have beaten us much worse if their receivers could hang onto a pass.  As poorly as we played we were still in it to the end.

K.C. only beat 1 team above .500 last year and that was Philly before Foles came in.

 

I doubt San Diego survives this year. I'm more impressed with the Chiefs anyway, they'll be stealing that division spot.

The Chargers will have a tough time in that division with two losses already to KC and Denver. I think they may be odd team out.
