Hello, everybody, Opening Week of the NFL regular season has finally arrived!  :)   :nfl:  Our 2014 Indianapolis Colts seek to defend and improve their AFC South Divisional championship, from 11-5 in both 2012 and 2013, as they are in Colorado, to play the 2013 AFC Champions Denver Broncos in the 23rd overall meeting between the teams.. Sunday's matchup is also intriguing,  the Colts play the rematch with their former star QB, and future Hall-Of-Famer Peyton Manning,  and certainly a lot of viewership on television, as tonight's matchup is the first regular season game on NBC Sports Sunday Night Football coverage.   :manning:

Both the Colts and the Broncos played at Indianapolis in their last meeting on October 20, 2013, and the first battle between quarterbacks Andrew Luck and Peyton Manning, also played on Sunday Night.   Luck outplayed his predecessor, Manning. Luck threw for three touchdowns and ran for another TD, outplaying his predecessor, and defeating the previous undefeated Broncos by the score of 39-33, just before their bye week.

Colts win that night ended the Broncos 17-game regular season winning streak at the time. Manning though he played spectacular for the Broncos, completing 29 passes out of 49 attempts for 386 yards, was sacked 4 times by the Colts defense, and had one interception in a losing cause. Manning appeared opposite the Colts since his release in March 2012.

Colts 39-33 win over the Denver Broncos at LOS also even the all-time regular and post season series at 11 games apiece, a rivalry that started that after the 1970 AFL-NFL merger, the Denver Broncos defeated the Baltimore Colts 17-6 in the first ever meeting played at Baltimore Memorial Stadium back on November 10, 1974.

Colts won both preseason games at the RCA Dome in Indianapolis Colts defeated Denver in consecutive games played at the RCA Dome in indianapolis, winning 41-10 in January 4, 2004, and later by 49-24 on January 9, 2005.  Colts also outscored the Broncos in the previous 22 games  504 points, to the Colts 471.   Another Colts win tonight would break the tie and lead the series by one game at 12-11.

Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth are announcing the live TV game commentary analysis, along with sideline reporter and interviewer Michele Tafoya, on national television on NBC sports, including locally in Indianapolis on WTHR Channel 13, and internationally online on all devices, all media on HD.

Bob Lamey, our legendary 'Voice Of The Colts,' and former Colts, N.Y. Giants and Wisconsin Badger QB Jim Sorgi are also announcing the live radio game play-by-play and analysis, on flagship stations WFNI ESPN SportsCenter 1070AM WHLK The Hank Country 98.1FM, and the Colts/Vectren Radio Network.

Mostly sunny skies at 77 degrees, is the local game forecast inside Sports Authority Field At Mile High Stadium in Downtown Denver for the 8:30PM Eastern Standard Time kickoff, along with  34% humidity, 5% precipitation, and mild eastern winds at 5 miles per hour.

Colts are wearing their matching white jerseys and pants, while the host Broncos are wearing their home orange jerseys, and white pants.

NO injuries to both the Colts and Broncos, and hope Andrew Luck, Coach Chuck Pagano, and the rest of the Colts players and coaching and team support staffs make the home and away sweep tonight in Denver, with a win in front of a prime time audience and to your fans in to start your season Indianapolis.  Continue to stay  Colts Strong and Chuck Strong, and GO COLTS!!!!!    :excited:   :coltslogo:  :1colts:  :colts:  :coltsfb:  :coltshorse:  :coltslogo:  :helmet:   :D

Good to see you too, nice late one to start the season. Not overly confident but looking forward to a good game. Hoping for a shoot out for fantasy reasons.

haha I'm the exact opposite (see above post).  I'm confident though.  We beat 'em last year and I'm excited to see how Luck has improved over the offseason.

Thinking to just coffee my way through and stay up to go to work, try and survive the day then sleep after... See how it goes!

That strategy has failed me numerous times. I always feel great until about 2 hours before work. That's when your mind starts to become alarmed when you realize it's too late for a nap and you feel like gravity has increased by 10x.

    • It is fact. You do understand where the money to pay player salaries and such comes from right? I mean it’s right there in the CBA…   the league basically places the money in an escrow account every year directly from the league, which is a portion of the revenue set aside for player salaries from the leagues various sources(tv deals for example). It never touches the owners pockets first.  Jim Irsay could have only 10 cents in his account and it wouldn’t matter when it comes to player salaries.  yes, guaranteed monies and such have to be put in upfront but if you read the fine print, that money is basically reimbursed the to the team the year it’s paid out. So 2025 guarantees would be paid back to the team in 2025 from the player salaries fund.    and yes, I’ve linked it every year for the past 5-6 years. Ever since the beginning of the Ballard era, which seems to be when this notion of Irsay not having cash for this or that came up as a rationale for not signing big name FA. It’s not though when one actually looks up how that all works.
    • Looking at OTC now.  Seems like we may have around 10-12M cap space left to go after players in FA.  Do the Colts sign I player or break it down to a few small signings.  Still seeing who is available and limited on time.  Still am high on WR Quez Watkins and seeing the Dolphins are also interested in him.  Watkins played under Shane and figured he would be one of his targets in FA.     Both SS, assuming Cross is the starter, but FS is main focus and probably in the draft.   Not sold one too many true FS from college and sure you seen prior post about how slow these CBs are and a move to FS probably best for their career in the NFL.  Especially Khyree Jackson who has a lot of the overall skill set of Cooper DeJean and might be a viable option later in the draft.
    • I’d like Crossby!   I really like Mitchell, but I just don’t see more youth being a good thing for our CB room. Even if the Sneed thing is made up I still think we should go for a vet.    I hope we can get Cooper in the 2nd. I’d prefer a WR (or Bowers) at 15, but right now I think we’re looking at DE.    Powers-Johnson looks greats, but of all the things we could do I think OL is probably the least likely at 15.    Lots of needs. Safety is probably the biggest, but I don’t think any of them are worth the 15th overall.
    • @Solid84   Still holding out hope we trade our R1P15 to LV for Maxx Crosby give them draft capital to move up for their QB.    If we sit at P15, draft CB Quinyon Mitchell.  Latest report seen was the Colts haven't even talked trade for Sneed.  False news, who knows, time will tell?    If Mitchell is gone before P15 then see a trade back and draft WLB Edgerrin Cooper or OL Jackson Powers-Johnson.
