3? We've played 2 games..

I believe he is talking about how many times he get burnt in the game today. Regardless we are beating a dead horse to the point where you can't physically see anything left of the horse. So many threads I've added to the *insert knee jerk reaction here* that I could write a book about today's reactions alone.

Tann (whatever his name is) is pretty good. He didn't always have an easy time (5 sacks), but he withstood it.

Toler got burnt, because of the D scheming. LB's dropping into coverage to cut off slants and crossing routs didn't work as well as the game plan suggested. He's a press corner and the outside CB's seemed to be running backwards 10 yards deep before engaging the WR. In my best Geddy Lee voice from 1977

"All the same, we take our chances,

Laughed at by Time,
Tricked by Circumstances.
Plus ca change,
Plus c'est la meme chose,

The more that things change,
The more they stay the same."

A consistent pass rush would help

Listened to DFree last night, as he was asked about his lines ability to generate pressure, and he said that the lines and the secondary both help each other. Pressure helps secondary, blanket coverage helps develop sacks. (my interpretation)

Leave it to fans to always be either/or. Reasonable and logical is not in the the Critical Fan Scrolls.

Few things in the NFL are singular. When a guy is at the line in the NBA and he dionks a free throw, that is completely on him. Even in a FG attempt in the NFL, the center, the holder, and the footing affects the kicker. A bad pitch or a bad swing in MLB can fairly obvious...or they can be misinterpreted, but events in the NFL are always combinations of participation. Yet fans just looooooove to break it down to singular people and actions.

In a bar today as I watched the Colts, the guy beside me pointed out the Andrew Luck never beat his team in College. Like it was one player against a whole team. That is a perfect example of the common fan who complains using examples that involve a myriad of events, yet puts the blame on one person.

I've been saying this since we signed him Toler is a slot CB forced to play on the outside against teams #1 WR's.  Were gonna need a Joe Haden type CB whether it's from draft or free agency to play this style of defense. Toler played great as a slot CB for the Cardinals but he's just not physical enough to play on the outside. Vontae is a great #2 CB with all the physical abilities but what separates him from a guy like Haden is the mental makeup.  I rewatched the Browns/Dolphins game and Haden completely shut down Wallace jammed him at line of scrimmage constantly and had the recovery speed to not get beat deep. Haden playing Wallace with not much safety help really made their defense more effective in the run and passing game. I know the Browns wouldn't trade Haden but if were gonna have a successful top 10 defense, were gonna need a shutdown CB that can take away one side of the field.

I think he's actually suggesting that Toler will get burnt again in our next game, making it 3 times.

I thought he played well against the Raiders though. There's no way he got "burnt" in that game. Maybe he did last night though, he wasn't great.

From what I hear ,although I was at work and havnt had a chance to watch ,any pass rush would help.Hmmmmm  :hmm:  maybe we shouldn't have cut Nevis   :hmm: maybe we shouldn't have traded Rayford and just maybe Chapman should play more :hmm:

    • Ignoring anything to do with accuracy, level of play, etc., just based on his injury history through 8 games, it's highly unlikely he will be our QB in a few years.  It's a catch 22 with him.  If you don't utilize his legs, it will be very difficult to win with him.  If you do utilize his legs, it will be very difficult to keep him on the field.  I've come to the conclusion that his size is not necessarily a benefit.  The collisions are harder.  He goes to the ground harder.  You don't see some of the gentle drops and rolls you see with Lamar Jackson.     The fact that he's also tied to a front office that might be counting their days doesn't help either.
    • Id say avoid drafting or taking players from your team that you’re a fan of. I’m an avid fantasy guy and also a sports bettor. I literally will avoid taking any Colts players In fantasy and also during the week in fantasy football I avoid taking the props of the players I’m playing against. I never want to wish bad on anyone so for that very reason I avoid those guys. For me personally it has helped tremendously, I can still enjoy the game without bias.
    • I will just say this about the comparisons between Luck and AR.  And even Manning.   First, as far as overall talent?  I think AR has more talent than Andrew.  And I say that as the biggest Luck fan that there is.  I loved that guy.  But he always reminded me of a Manning wannabe.  Someone who had more pure talent.  Who was very smart.  But I never ever got the feeling that he wanted to win and put in the hours that Manning did.  And I think that was proven when he retired so early.  Manning was like an AI robot who studied 23 hours a day.  Just a huge will to win.    But what Luck had was pain tolerance, drive and overall ability due to his teaching since he was a kid...and his will to do what is right for the team.    IMO that was 100% MORE than AR's is right now.  Not even close.    If only you could clone a combo between Manning and his smarts, Luck and his pain tolerance, and AR and his pure athletic ability.    I am sorry but unless AR is the unluckiest person in the history of the NFL, NO ONE gets hurt this much.  He is a wreck.  Heck I remember in his first pre season game last year he ran out of bounds and started to limp.  Literally his very first hit ever.  Right then I said to myself "uh oh".  And then he has not finished what......4 of his all time starts?  Out of 8?  I mean....that is not normal QB behavior.  He seems to get hurt on almost every hit he takes.    Make that make sense.    It is very VERY odd to say the least.   I want AR to do well because he seems like a good guy and he has all the talent in the world  But after this last game and his words after? For lack of a better word I don't think he has any ability at all to do 2 things.     One....protect himself.   Two.....take a hit and feel pain without it being the end of the world.  He seems to have no pain tolerance whatsoever.  Which is fine.  Just don't be an NFL Qb as a result.
    • I'm not creating anything.  Till AR can stay on the field it's Flacco that has to be tough.
    • I understand that but till AR shows he can stay on the field, Flacco has to be the man. It's that simple.
