December is often Dangerous.....

We've got 4 weeks left....

Many fans -- including me -- thought we had a shot at wins this week at home vs. Tennessee and in two weeks on the road vs. Kansas City.

And as things played out, we should win both. But that doesn't mean we will.

December can be a dangerous month. Teams with a bad record have nothing to lose. They can play fast and loose. A coaching staff fighting for their jobs can come up with new looks and wrinkles.

Strange stuff can happen.

It was just last December that KC fired Haley, put in Crennel and they won 2 of the last 3 including handing Green Bay their only loss of the season.

It was just last December that winless Indy won their last two games.... strange stuff can happen.

Should we win this week? Yes. But it's far from a sure thing. We've got to keep the chip on our shoulder. Locker can be dangerous. He runs hot and cold, sometimes even in the same game.

Hold on tight.... the roller coaster we've been on all season is not over. We're not done yet!

Yeah we are not in the playoffs yet so I agree. Like the Bills game we are facing another "must win" in terms of our playoff destiny at home.

People often sound like we are already in. We aren't. We can be though if the Colts take care of business in a few games (mainly TN/KC) but in no way shape or form do we want the Texans games to be do or die games do we? Even the final one at home vs. Houston could be for homefield advantage for them for all we know so it could be a huge battle when initially many felt it might be meaningless. The AFC race is fierce for every team in terms of seedings and the margin of error small.

The Lions win was a huge huge blessing....huge. But, we are not done yet. We have a ways to go and I am sure the veterans on the team as well as Arians will not let the young guys forget this.

One game at a time......

It's all about being hot for the playoffs.

Notice how the recent Super Bowl champions were ALL hot in december.

I think if the Colts can manage a 2-2 December record to get into the playoffs, that would be fine. Dont want to see them go 1-3 or 0-4, especially considering they have 2 very winnable games where they are favorites.

Considering we are already 1-0 in December going 0-4 is rather unlikely ;)

I agree that momentum is important. These next few weeks are going to tell us a lot about our team. We haven't seem to hit the proverbial "rookie wall" yet, but these young guys have been going at it for 3/4 of a season and it wouldn't shock me if we lose at least one of those very winnable games... I hope that (in addition to a win this Sunday) We can dominate KC on the road and pick one off against Houston at LOS in order to hit the playoffs with the wheels turning! Hopefully Chuck's return will give our young guys the third wind that they will need to make a splash in the postseason... assuming we get there. :lombardi::dunno:

I subscribe to the "I already have enough to be happy" idea. Any wins from here on out are gravy.

If we do not go to the playoffs, I will still be happy and excited about Colts football. My choice, my experience. It has been so much a gift this season. For me to expect more almost feels selfish. I am giddy about who this team is, where they have come from, and where they are going. I wouldn't dare create a possibility for myself to be disappointed now. I said 5-11......and then upped that to 7-9 after seeing the team in preseason. All dreams have come true.

    • I think even though the sample size was small last season it gave people a false sense of where he is. But we also can’t ignore thst maybe the regression is just because of the lack of off season work. If it’s just the lack of offseason work it should correct itself fairly quickly. We should def him settle in by game 6 or 7.
    • It just seems like people have sold themselves the idea he was going to come out great this season which I think is and was completely unreasonable.   I hope to see some improvement by the end of the season, but I really don't expect a whole lot until sometime next season. AR has got so much catching up to do.   I mean, there's no doubt AR's struggles are affecting MPJ, but MPJ has never been a great separater and seeing a defender right besides MPJ is probably stopping AR from throwing his way at this point.   Also, to be clear, I'm not saying AR will DEFINITELY be great, but I do think we DEFINITELY don't know yet and people need to be a lot more patient with him.
    • They both couldn’t throw or work on footwork. To ignore this could be a possibility with AR is naive. Let’s see where he is by game 7. Especially when it looks like he went backwards  from last season.
    • Other than the fact that Luck was a proven NFL QB in his prime and that his shoulder rehab lasted 3x as long.
    • His lack of experience was a well-known risk in drafting him and it's a big reason why some were skeptical (including me). On the flip side, it sort of seemed like people disregarded his lack of experience then in favor of things like potential and upside. But now he's struggling and it's showing. If anything, it's validated those initial concerns.   I tend to think WR drops following a QB from college to the NFL says as much about the QB as it does the pass catchers. But they need to do better. I think it will take a combination of improvements from both AR and the pass catchers.   Not sure if something is up with MPJ, but some "regression" this year was very predictable. At one point, I actually thought he might leave in FA when faced with prospect of re-signing with a run-first team and a young QB who is still learning how to throw short and intermediate passes (the area he operates). But he stayed...and I am glad he did. But if it continues, there are going to be a lot of people blaming MPJ, which is pretty ridiculous, when you think about just 6 months ago, people were talking about how great of a contract it was and that MPJ was a legit WR1 with AR.
