Reason for Eldrige Release?

Source confirms #Rams TE Brody Eldridge suspended first four games of regular season. Was claimed off waivers from the #Colts in May.

Figured this might have something to do with the timing of his release. Colts must have known this.

But right after the draft and we had taken both Fleener and Allen, a story in Pro Football Weekly was saying Eldridge's chance of staying were slim and that he would help his own cause if he could spend less time in the trainers room.

Now, with news of the PED's, it seems possible he was taking them to help himself heal. Some of those drugs do that and football is a brutal game.

I don't think this is/was the reason for Eldridge's release. He was injury prone, not a good catcher, and not a great blocker. Throw in the addition of Fleener and Allen and that's why he was let go in my opinion.

I believe his lack of production coupled with the new blod at TE had more to do with his release than the peds....but I am sure it made it alot easier to cut bait if they knew?

Brody also had a 'tude' as said before....we did not need a steroid head kicking a real TE's butt! He WAS a blocking TE!

I liked him until the negatives outweighed the positives!

I think it is a combined issue with his PED's accusation and his overall lack of talent. He was terrible at catching and mediocre at best at blocking.

I never really cared much for Eldrige. I always liked Tamme better. He stepped up BIG Time when Dallas Clark got Injured

I think he was let go because Andre Smith was (slightly) cheaper, less injury prone, and as good a blocker while being a slightly better receiver.

Even if Andre doesn't stick, he has the one ability that at least makes him more worth a look: durability.
