Through week 6, we are the 7th seed in the AFC at 3-3.  I still think you need 10 wins to get into the playoffs at season's end, but the AFC is mediocre so far this year.

The next 7 weeks will determine the season. I think we go 2-5 or 3-4. If we go 2-5 the season is over

If we play how we played today - zero chance we make playoffs. 
 

This upcoming stretch is brutal. Let’s say we beat Miami. We’ll be 4-3. Not bad. AND we must beat Miami to have a chance.

4-3 can easily turn into 4-8. I think we win one or two out of that stretch (if we get healthier), but every one of those QB’s will shred our soft zone defense. 
 

Losing to Jacksonville was brutal to our playoff chances IMO. We needed to go into the Texans game 4-2 to give ourselves some leeway.

I'm thinking we'll get some players back for the Houston game.  As ugly as this season has been, the thing I've noticed is that all of the games so far have been close, within one score.  At this point, I just want us to compete each week.  The final 5 games look less daunting if we go into December healthy.

My thought as well.  We win an ugly game against Miami and get our playmakers back for Houston.

First,  Bill Burr has some words for you for using the phrase "you can't make this up"

 

Second, that may not necessarily point to the AFC being mediocre. It could point to the level of parity the NFL has achieved.  Or something like that.  I haven't looked at records of afc teams vs nfc teams though so you could also be right.

I'm not writing them off. We have witnessed that anything can happen and normally does.  Being in the mix is a lot better than being out of the picture.

I think of Bill and laugh everytime I see someone on here say "just shut up and play the game..." Bill pegged those types a longg time ago.

2023 AFC was 46-34 nonconference... or in other words, a lot of football left to play

I haven’t looked at the standings in a while.  Man, it’d suck to be in the NFC North.  A 5-0 team out in front, with three 4-win teams behind them.  As much as we’ve complained about the Colts, we’ve beat two teams (Pitt and Chicago) that are now each 4-2.  We may win ugly with our injuries, but I’m pretty happy if we can get to a 4-3 record on Sunday after all that.
