- Although Flacco may give the team a better chance for winning through a more consistent performance, Richardson needs to continue to play at this point in order for this franchise to have any chance to get back to elite level in the future. - As others have pointed out, if the team was going to sit AR and let him develop behind the scenes, sitting (eg Packers with Aaron Rodgers or Jordan Love) they should have done so right after he was drafted. Obviously, Steichen, Ballard, etc decided it was best to develop him through playing right away. Benching him now would really indicate some serious haphazard thought and lack of commitment to a plan that was formulated for a reason. - With all the above being said, it’s okay to hold Richardson to some type of improvement metrics/standards. The things I would focus on is 1) being able to stay healthy/avoid injuries with how, when he runs and 2) Avoiding wild misses especially on underneath stuff where the receiver is open but the throw gives the receiver no chance at making a play or results in basically an unforced INT. - The defense (which is all Ballard’s construction) does not do AR (or any QB for that matter) any favors with their play. It results in creating pressure to make “hero plays” in order to stay in the game. I said it before and I’ll say it again…if the defense is even average to slight below average though 5 games, we are very likely 4-1. Just my opinion, but I feel the biggest development tool for a young QB is getting snaps on a winning team because it reinforces that types of habits, plays to make and what mistakes to avoid. More than anything, it builds confidence.

Ballard thinks he's Polian reincarnate. Somehow he's got Irsay believing that too. A couple more not so flattering facts: Our Best D-Lineman (Buckner) wasn't drafted by him Possibly our best DE (Ebukam) he didn't draft Currently the Colt's top playing CB (Womack) he didn't draft They all came from San Fran -

Levis (or whoever they have at QB) is licking their chops at playing the Colts D right now The RB probably is too -
If they wanted to tank, they'd start Ehlinger over Flacco. Or AR over Flacco.... 😁

Should be interesting to see. I just don’t see us winning more than 4 or 5 games.
