I don’t like ADM robbing Pierce of snaps. All Pierce does is make plays and FIGHTS for the ball. Sick of watching ADM short arms balls or pull up to avoid contact. Don’t see the “dog” in him at this point.

Alec is our best and most willing blocking WR. He makes contested catches and makes every target count.

AD will pull off a mind blowing move to get separation and then just doesn't try to catch the ball. It makes no sense.

We should be playing Pitt, Pierce, and Downs. AD needs to understand you can't play like that if you want to start.

Still need to continue going to AD. They had Pittman doubled which forced Flacco to go to his other guys. AD is the main guy we need to get things moving the right way. He's going to have to grow up in these next couple games. We need to reliably be able to go to Pierce, AD, and Downs when Pittman gets doubled down.

I am not going to judge him too early yet.  He shows signs.  For example his ability to get open.  That is important.  We 'think' he has good hands as he showed he did in college.   Right now he seems to be playing scared when it comes to getting hit, but if he can overcome that he should be a really good WR in time.

Remember how so many here thought Pierce was horrible but he has shown he can play.

I suppose it might be possible that he’s taking the typical route for developing as an NFL rookie receiver and needs to get comfortable in the offense and gel with the team.  4 catches, a pass, and an end around seems like progress to me.  Fearlessness is linked to confidence.  He’ll get there.

I've noticed three times this season (in three different games) when Mitchell appeared to shy away from trying to make a catch to avoid a possible hit. In many years of watching the NFL, I don't remember noticing this happen with other receivers. It doesn't seem like a typical rookie thing. But am I just wrong about not seeing this with other NFL players? (My memory definitely isn't the greatest).

Maybe time to bring up Laquon Treadwell off the practice squad.

I think it’s time to stop forcing the ball to AD and use your other three WRs who are doing well.  The fact Pierce didn’t really have anything go his way until the 4th is not good.

    • I know Ballard likes the long arms and to be tall at CB. I personally think we need more speed. Rodgers was so good because he had the closing speed and he could make up for a mistake.
    • Geez, I hate to make this post.  But I looked at defensive stats for all 41 years the Colts have been in Indianapolis (including this year).  We are on track this year to be the Worst Defense Ever.   Top 10 Bad Defenses in Indianapolis History: #10 - 2015, Greg Manusky's last year as DC.  Allowed 408 points (rank 25), 6066 Total Yards (rank 26), 4114 passing yards (rank 24).  4.3 yards per rush.  6.6 yards per pass attempt. #9 - 2004, during Ron Meeks' tenure and during the Manning years.  351 points was good for only 19th, but 5929 total yards was 29th, 3892 passing yards was 28th, and 4.6 yards per rush was 30th in the league. #8 - 2016, first year of Ted Monachino.  392 points against was 22nd, but 6126 Total Yards (rank 30), 4200 passing yards (rank 27) with 6.8 yards per pass attempt.  Also had only 8 interceptions. #7 - 2022, first year of Gus Bradley.  427 points (rank 28).  Yards weren't that bad.  But had only 10 interceptions.  4.1 yards per rush was actually good enough for 5th. #6 - 2023, second year of Gus Bradley.  415 points (rank 28).  5947 yards (rank 24), 3842 passing yards (rank 16th).  Had an Indy-high 51 sacks. #5 - 2011, final year of Larry Coyer; set up Andrew Luck first draft choice.  430 points (rank 28), 5935 yards (rank 25), 2303 rushing yards (rank 29).  Passing yards were good, but 7.0 yards per pass attempt was worth 27th.  Only 29 sacks.  Only 8 interceptions.  Only 47 passes defended. #4 - 1998, Rusty Tillman's only year as DC.  444 points (rank 29), 5836 yards (rank 29), 2570 rush (rank 29), with 4.7 yards per rushing attempt (rank 30).  Only 8 interceptions. #3 - 2017, last year of Ted Monachino, before Eberflus came.  404 points (rank 30), 5873 yards (rank 30), 3946 passing yards (rank 28), for 7.3 yards per pass attempt (rank 32).  Only 25 sacks. #2 - 2001, Vic Fangio's last year (and the year that Jim Mora went off).  444 points (rank 29), 5836 yards (rank 29), 2570 rush (rank 29), for 4.7 yards per rush (rank 30).  Only 8 interceptions. #1 - 2024, projected numbers (divide by 5, multiply times 17).  415 points (rank 25), a Whopping 7126 total yards (rank 32), 2669 rushing yards (rank 31), 4457 passing yards (rank 29).  5.0 yards per rush (rank 17), 7.4 yards per pass attempt (rank 30).  Only 10 projected interceptions and 58 projected passes defended. It's a pretty telling thing when your DC is projected to be responsible for 3 out of 10 worst defenses in this city.

    • He and Gus have coached alongside each other before.  I think he could acclimate very quickly actually.  Even mid season.  An off season is beneficial no doubt but I think he could make some adjustments that would have immediate positive impact.  If I’m him I’m in no hurry though.  He’s going to be in demand.
