I walked out of the room for just a few minutes and when I came back in there was DJ just all choked up.  Saying he had texted Mort YESTERDAY and they talked football.  
 

Me?  These days I cry at sad commercials so you can imagine my reaction…. 
 

Tough loss for all who love football like we do.  As good a person as he was a reporter.

I have never had anything bad to say about this guy. He was a great reporter, spot on with his Info which always seemed correct, and he knew his football. This is terrible news. RIP to one of the GOATs at ESPN.

Me too. He was such a classy guy. He, John Clayton and Peter King were the type of NFL insiders that I respected.

I liked Mort much more. I miss the early guys like Dick Schapp, John Feinstein, Tom Jackson, Jaws, and several others. Now, my favorite insider is Tom Pelissero.

He was one of the few guys Polian trusted, for a reason.

 

RIP Mort. You should be proud of how well you did your job with integrity and respect. The sports world lost a good person and reporter.

One of the first sources of info. He did say that Irsay could be moving them right before the season opener in Cleveland years ago. I was not happy with that
